With such a gap, Mercedes is going to lock down the front row easily, unless it rains.

Oh well, I hope it rains

Edit: Of course they could still wipe the floor with everyone else in the rain, but hopefully the PU is not as big of a factor in the rain.

Malaysian GP 2014 Friday and Saturday practice thread

Early days but currently Ferrari looks the best of the rest. Kimi looks like having more comfort in the car, I like it so far. Hopefully we maintain this for Q & the Race

i did not expect Fernando to be faster than Kimi all the time, that's why i'm not even slightly amazed that Kimi was better in FP's

me too, but a half a second ...
which can mean a lot if the others behind Merc are that close ...
and if we take the result of FP3 Alo would stuck again behind Hulk, Ric ... not easy to overtake ...

General: yesterday I was surprised about the small gap between the teams ... today Merc seemed to pull out the hammer ... but there is one thing: On sky broadcast I've seen that Merc start working on the car of Rosberg (suspension etc.). Car was nearly naked on the front ... Which is a bit surprising as they been quickest by far ... so why start changeing something as the car looked easy to drive ... so maybe most of the teams already prepared for a wet qualifying while Merc just started to rework the setup.

P.S. I nearly forgot: Horner and Marko can just dig their whining about engine performance. As long TR with Renault can keep up with high speed like Merc engines it isn't an issue of Renault. It seems Newey again found a way to compensate the loose of blown diffuser but suffer on straights ...
"If I was driving for Red Bull [from 2008] probably I would have more championships, but because they were dominating between 2010 and 2014 probably I would never have driven for Ferrari. I am very happy and very proud to drive for Ferrari, all my time there.
