I agree that the fastest lap time means nothing at this point. But in the last race, we were bad in race simulation which turns out to be the case during the race too.

So as far as race trim goes, maybe we can take some things from there. Of course if it rains then everything may change

Today it rained somewhere between 4.30pm-5pm local time, with race and qualifying starting at 4pm. Seems we're getting rain around this time late evening, so it could affect latter part of the race if it rains. Not sure to hope for rain or not though

I really really hope this may answer my criticism toward Stefano that he can finally manage to lead us to become a winning team, once again. Go Ferrari!

Nice to wake up to some postive news on Ferrari... too bad no points are given for practice. Hope we continue this upward movement and have not already peaked for the weekend.

Didn't watch the FP's but looking at the times and comments here, I'd say we're looking pretty good at the moment and it seems that we have made some nice steps forward compared to the first race. I know that it was only free practice, but it's really great to see both cars up there in top 5. May this kind of positive progress continue and continue!

Pit Lane Talk said that Ferrari tested new software update w/o glitch and can run full power...They also said that Ferrari run with lighter fuels than others and gap will be 0.5s to Merc..How the hell they know..?

Just watched the FP2 (as I slept thorugh it... damn you mybile phone for not waking me up) and it was really nice to hear some sweet talk for once at the address of Ferrari from the the Sky guys.

One thing though, I didn't notice that it was said in Australia, but Ted was saying today, that we did put the ballistic shield on the turbo. Is it really true? How could we lose this fight?

Hard looked looked the best race tyre. If FP3 confirms Ferrari are right up there I pray they do not sacrifice quali to start on hard. I always hate that strategy as my perception is any team thats tried it as long as I remember has failed.

Did Alonso drive second practice with broken floor, or is that old news from autosport?

A Ferrari spokesman confirmed to Omnicorse that we did not/will not add the turbo shield: http://www.omnicorse.it/magazine/359...n-e-sovrappeso

I don't think Ted is making up lies but I think his general dislike of Ferrari makes him more inclined to believe certain paddock rumours.

Seemed to me last word from the Scuderia was the FIA had ruled on its legality, but they would have a solution (shield) at the ready, so as to cover their bases if a problem arose. Maybe he heard we had the part & assumed it was installed?

On a side note I have to say, I watched the live stream of Sky Sports for FP1, as NBCSN will only televise FP2, Quali & Race. Needless to say I'll be tuning in again FP3.
After seeing the coverage I am GREEN with envy (as I suspected I would be) at the amount & depth of coverage compared to what we get on NBC. Amazed that there was just show after show related to F1, really enjoyed the interview with Murray Walker! This WILL become a regular part of my race weekend ritual. Sorry to go off topic but just had to share

Hard to tell what really is going on but it seems Ferrari have improved but so have Red Bull. Although, our fastest times are on par with that of Mercedes, I believe they have more pace on hand. Our long run pace is very good. It looks like our car is easy on the tyres. So we have a decent PU, reasonable aero and good on the tyres - all a healthy combination to take the fight to front. My gut feeling is that Red Bull were running on lower fuel than us thus they're slower than us but not by far. What is worrying is their rate of development. If they carry on like this they'll have the fastest car in a few races. We need to keep on developing and must not stall.

It's worth pointing out that Stella during Alonso's heavy fuel simulation was pleased with the lap times and how the tyres were coping (FP2). He even said that Alonso posted the fastest lap time compared to the competition at that time who were also running heavier fuel loads. A bit of sandbagging perhaps?

There are a ton of streaming sites out there, here's the one I most often use.

Someone always posts a link in the race thread here before the race.

IIRC, Ted said that the FIA requested it, and so by that he assumes Ferrari have to have a shielding. Maybe Ferrari did not have a conventional shield that is part of the engine, but they have to employ a different approach of additional protection for the turbo (as opposed to previous idea where Ferrari did not think it would need any extra shielding at all)

It for sure makes him happy to hear any negative rumours about Ferrari...

Looks like Kimi likes the F14-T more then Fernando suddenly.
