The problem with modern day F1

Hi guys just wanting some others thoughts on this.

    1. Motorsport will never be green. From the date of its inception F1 has been about a desire to compete, resources eg fuel are wasted but the trade off is development. Eg abs, traction control etc. the moment we 'freeze' development we now deprive ourselves of progress so now we just run around with frozen engines for years for what? Bit ironic if you ask me. We are being more wasteful in this green f1 than before it was green.
    2. Predictability. Once apon a time teams wouldbe able to bridge the gap through development. Recall Schumi playing catch up with superior mclarens and catching up to make it a fight. Now everything is so limited that once the pecking order in terms of pace is established it doesn't seem to change over the course of the year. So once reliability is sorted, what's the point. Even this year engines are frozen so what chance has anyone got to bridge the gap? Once if you didn't have he best aero could try to play to your strengths in other areas.

I think it's reasonable to argue that in the pursuit of bein 'green' we are in fact being more wasteful. The moment we stand still we are now just driving around for fun (and for purists like me this is all good) but i am arguing that in this pursuit of a greener f1 we are in fact being more wasteful. To the outsider who wants to question our existence we could always argue that we are developing items that will filter to cars the trade off being fuel etc but now what can we say. We are driving around for fun for nothing. And yes we are still developing thngs but the rate has fallen and the 'cost' for such items is now relatively greater. Ilove racing and have no issue with this but I merely am stating that this premise of green doesn't hold for me.

Apologies for the long post i have tried to be brief and am probably not expressing my thoughts as coherently as I should but hope its clear. There are many more issues as we know but im a littlevrrustraed by this 'green' notion being shoved down peoples throats. I have been obsessed with this sport or over 20years and have not watched a complete race this year, as the essence of what drew me to the sport is being rapidly diluted.

Nope, the sport is broken and getting worse. The more rules they make the worse it gets.

Thats the thing, if we were doing what Merc, is, there would be none of this bashing.

It wouldn't matter to me if Ferrari were having another year like 2002. All this fuel saving, forced talk about tyres, overtaking aids, durability where no one really pushes for very long and engines which seemingly have to pass EU noise regulations is not F1.

I don't want to have to understand and view a fuel meter to understand who's doing well.

P.S. And did I mention the celebrity podium interviews? Farcical.

I used to really enjoy the fight backs of the past eg ferrari 1991 (if I recall correctly) bringing a whole new real b spec car mid season and Prost putting it on the front row in France. Or 1996, a complete redesign of the front end and Schumi man handling it to pole again I think this may of been France (forget he fct the car blew on the installation lap). Apologies for dwelling on the past. I think today the teams hands are tied. Engines frozen, no testing etc it's left up to computers and wind tunnels. Best scenario for a Good f1 season was always having the best driver in an inferior car, as they could try and bridge the gap through development/testing eg MS vs the mclarens. Even though we had the dominant mclarens of the late eighties and Williams of early nineties their dominance didn't last as long as today an I think that is a result of development freeze. The MS years were an aberration, everything fell into place and no one could catch us. Merc will dominate thi season unless there is a majo change which is unlikely and unfair I guess. Although we were shafted lastvyearvwith mid season tyre change

Fuel efficiency has always been a part of motorsport, however it should not be governed and mandated. There is already a performance benefit associated with being fuel efficient and that should be enough for the sport. If I can do a race on less fuel than the other guy that is an advantage.
    Forza Ferrari!!
