1. Motorsport will never be green. From the date of its inception F1 has been about a desire to compete, resources eg fuel are wasted but the trade off is development. Eg abs, traction control etc. the moment we 'freeze' development we now deprive ourselves of progress so now we just run around with frozen engines for years for what? Bit ironic if you ask me. We are being more wasteful in this green f1 than before it was green.
2. Predictability. Once apon a time teams wouldbe able to bridge the gap through development. Recall Schumi playing catch up with superior mclarens and catching up to make it a fight. Now everything is so limited that once the pecking order in terms of pace is established it doesn't seem to change over the course of the year. So once reliability is sorted, what's the point. Even this year engines are frozen so what chance has anyone got to bridge the gap? Once if you didn't have he best aero could try to play to your strengths in other areas.
I think it's reasonable to argue that in the pursuit of bein 'green' we are in fact being more wasteful. The moment we stand still we are now just driving around for fun (and for purists like me this is all good) but i am arguing that in this pursuit of a greener f1 we are in fact being more wasteful. To the outsider who wants to question our existence we could always argue that we are developing items that will filter to cars the trade off being fuel etc but now what can we say. We are driving around for fun for nothing. And yes we are still developing thngs but the rate has fallen and the 'cost' for such items is now relatively greater. Ilove racing and have no issue with this but I merely am stating that this premise of green doesn't hold for me.
Apologies for the long post i have tried to be brief and am probably not expressing my thoughts as coherently as I should but hope its clear. There are many more issues as we know but im a littlevrrustraed by this 'green' notion being shoved down peoples throats. I have been obsessed with this sport or over 20years and have not watched a complete race this year, as the essence of what drew me to the sport is being rapidly diluted.
