... on the other hand it can go on this way for a while ... since years other people are more friendly to me when I wear my Ferrari Shirt ... always have a smile in their face ... or they let me pass the line at the mall. World has become a lot more friendly ;)
"If I was driving for Red Bull [from 2008] probably I would have more championships, but because they were dominating between 2010 and 2014 probably I would never have driven for Ferrari. I am very happy and very proud to drive for Ferrari, all my time there.

In 2012 we had the 2nd best car overall as well, at least in race trim.

McLaren had better car for most of the time. They did so many mistakes and have too much DNF's that it was crazy.

Well on race pace we were pretty much on par with Macca, I remember in Hockenheim Button sat most of the race behind Fernando and wasn't able to overtake. But they probably had the better car in qualifying. So allow me to rephrase my earlier statement...in 2012 we had equally 2nd best car overall in race trim and 3rd/4th best car in qualifying.

Luca D says he was very unhappy about Ferrari's start to the season. Then he says Stefano told him he wanted to resign, and Luca told him to think about it three more days because it's a big decision. If Luca really didn't fire Stefano then that means Luca would have done nothing about Ferrari's bad start. Stefano made a decision Luca should have made but had no courage to. I'm beginning to think Luca is more talk than action.

That isnt aimed at you, or anyone, just how I feel.
But when all hope is lost, I don't turn to other team, to other driver... I just stop following F1 and wait for the next year. Ferrari is the only team I ever supported for almost 20 years now. Yes I may not be as hardcore as some of you but I am still a fan.

2010 : 3rd best car but extremely close to the 2nd best car which was the McLaren.

2011 : didn't follow that season closely but 3rd or 4th best perhaps? Red Bull were easily the best car.

2012: overall 3rd best but this order did change throughout the season hence why I'm saying overall. McLaren had the best car better than Red Bull.

2013: 3rd or 4th best car but perhaps this is an anomaly? McLaren messed up and if they just evolved their 2012 car for the 2013 season we would have been 4th or 5th best car. Both Lotus and Red Bull had better cars. We were more or less on par with Mercedes throughout the season but towards the end of the season we were slower than them.

    2014: ?

There is a clear but steady deterioration in terms of the car performance year by year ever since we let go of Costa.

Gearbox grid penalty adds to Vettel’s pain10 May 2014
Sebastian Vettel (GER) Red Bull Racing walks in after stopping in Q3.
Formula One World Championship, Rd5, Spanish Grand Prix, Qualifying, Barcelona, Spain, Saturday, 10 May 2014
Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel is set to start Sunday’s race in Spain from a lowly 15th place after Red Bull had to change the gearbox on his car following his problems in qualifying.

Vettel qualified 10th in Barcelona after coming to halt on track early in Q3 with transmission issues. The German will now drop to 15th thanks to the five-place grid penalty applicable when a gearbox fails to last six consecutive events.

It means Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez, Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat, Sauber’s Esteban Gutierrez and McLaren’s Kevin Magnussen all move up one in the starting order, to places 10 to 14 respectively.

Does RB make their own gearboxes, or are they supplied by some technical partner?

Oh enough of this "who fired or didn't fire Stefano" talk! The fact is that Stefano is gone and Mattiacci is the new TP, whether Stefano was sacked or left on his own initiative is irrelevant. Even if Luca personally didn't fire Stefano then I'm pretty sure he would've done that at the end of this season anyway, maybe he just didn't want to make such a big change in the middle of the season, but then Stefano resigned on his own and that was it.

Hmm.. I thought so too. I read somewhere they were using the Mclaren one, but changed it during 2010 and started making their own. OR was it the alternators?

    in-house.

While Renault supply us with engines, our gearboxes are made and tested in-house.

    Spot on 100%!
That is what I am saying too! Yes it was so nice to destroy competition from 2000 - 2004, and we all knew it will come to stop one day. I am fine with that. But I am not fine to be pale midfield team!

    This is rather depressing.

I keep thinking next race our upgrades will close the gap etc., Everything feels like its standing still.. oh wait, mercedes just went faster than anyone else.

Anyways, lets hope for a good race at least tomorrow. Getting on the podium for either of our drivers looks very difficult. So let it rain, SC, anything.. lets have a good race.

Whats so fundamental about a design flaw?

How can people this smart not notice a "fundamental" design flaw? Time to build a car without one then.

You'll notice my post is more about Luca than Stefano, who is still very much a part of Ferrari and getting more involved in the F1 team. If he would have tolerated Stefano till the end of the season, why should we believe that he will bring positive changes? The situation says a lot about his leadership value. Very relevant if you ask me.

They don't give points for FP or Quali, at least save all the gloom until after the race. Let's race!

All those who "don't want to gain that way" (vettel's breakdown), that is the aspect of F1 called reliability. I have no guilt accepting those gains, just as when we lose out to a failure we take the losses as part of the sport.

After everything that Luca has done and achieved with Ferrari, I really wouldn't worry about his leadership abilities if I were you. Luca is the right man to lead Ferrari, there's absolutely no doubt about that in my mind, but you're entitled to your own personal opinion of course.
