Renault says Mercedes turbo concept is not 'game-changing' in F1

I thought this article deserves a separate thread.

It shows that huge amount of rumors about the advantage that Mercedes have gained by splitting air compressor and turbine, are totally rubbish and so many so called experts shearing their mind by explaining it's fictional huge advantage.

They are simply taking away part of the blame that the Merc are so far in front...

By saying that they also mean that the aero and chassis of Merc is far infront of RedBull?

Given the advantage that Merc has over RedBull,if indeed the engine is not a game changer?
I had a very speedy start and at each lap I repeated my search in the mirror, but in vain: I couldn't see the P2.

Whatever it is, Mercedes' PU is far ahead of Renault and Ferrari. No one really cares exactly why Merc is ahead, the important thing is that they are ahead, and Renault as well as Ferrari failed to do a good job.

So it doesn't change anything really.

Mercedes power unit is ahead, but these kind of statement from Renault, is not because they are brave, it is because they know they will catch Mercedes.

Ye, I think people care why they are in front.

I don't see what difference it makes for us fans, it's not going to change anything. From what we've seen, no one is getting any closer to Merc and right now we still risk seeing Merc winning all races. I think most viewers will turn off their TV before anyone knows why Merc power unit is so far ahead

No-one may be getting close enough to Merc, Hornet, but Renault PU seems to be closing the gap (for Red Bull and Lotus at least), even Ferrari were closer in Shanghai. But you're right, if Merc just continue to dominate in this fashion, viewers will lose interest. I've already had enough of Lewis's and Nico's faces on the podium.

Its not the PU, well is, but its the driveability that is giving them the advantage. The drivers can put their foots down nowing the the rear will not suddenly step out. Their rear body work is, looks slightly better than ours, and RBRs. Its not a "game changer", its just that they have had bit more time on the WHOlE unit. And at the moment, are slightly ahead. The gap will come down, they will get beaten. Once, we Renault and RBR get on top of things and unlock the performance.
