Michael Schumacher - the best there was, the best there is, and the best there ever will be!

I know it's a little off topic but I will share my views, maybe wrong. Views are my own with the limited knowledge I know about whats going on in F1.
1. Money factor. New contract was rumored to be a $100m deal. Option aplenty.
2. Credential factor. Yes he is 4 times WDC with the best car. Just like Hamilton, he is WDC, I respect both but it's the car that was the factor. His machine was clearly 8 tenths faster than the field, so if one don't crash, job pretty much done for him by the team who built a monster.
3. Stock factor. Every driver has a stock price on their abilities. Some are paid more, some alot lesser like poor Jules. If seb gets beaten twice consecutively by his so called rookie team mate, it's bad for business.
4. Newey factor. Newey is prob going to announce his retirement in a few years. He was and is the aero factor that got RBR those titles like it or not.
5. Ferrari vacancy factor. This is the major point. If Alonso didn't announce his decision to leave, I bet you all my chips and fries, seb won't get the seat.
Whatever the factors are, I will support Ferrari on their decision to bring is Seb. I just hope they made a good one.
I think Seb lost out this year due to adaptability. DR was able to drive a car which was less perfect much beter. Nothing missing in Seb's skills as a whole, just that DR was able to push a machine that was more edgy.
Sorry mods for being off topic![]()

Kimi Raikkonen believes that the surprise appointment of long time Marlboro man Maurizio Arrivabene as Ferrari team principal is a good move and believes the Italian is perfect for the job at hand.
Raikkonen said, “I’ve known Maurizio Arrivabene for a long time I believe he is an extremely competent person and perfect for the role of [Ferrari]team principal that he has been given.”
“Maurizio has known Ferrari and the business of Formula 1 for a long time and I believe he has the ability to motivate and push the team back to the level it deserves to be at. Everyone in the team, in every area of activity will now have to tackle a lot of hard work to get the new car ready,” added the Finn.
Arrivabene replaced Marco Mattiacci who was drafted in to take over at the helm of the Maranello outfit from long time team principal Stefano Domenicali.
Mid-season Raikkonen said of Mattiacci, “With Marco he didn’t have much knowledge of F1 when he came in but he has a smart head. I think he’s doing good work, making good decisions, but it takes time to get involved and get people’s trust, but I think he’s the guy we need.”
As for his 2015 teammate Sebastian Vettel, Raikkonen said, “It was nice that he joined us in the garage for the first day of testing, although I have to say that didn’t surprise me, because I know what he’s like and his approach to work.”
“I think we can enjoy ourselves on track together, both of us fighting to be ahead of the other, while also working as a team to reach the common target of progressing in order to get the Scuderia back to the level it should be at,” declared the 2007 F1 world champion.
Looking back on his year ending test stint at Yas Marina, Raikkonen summed up his day in the cockpit, “The components we tested in Abu Dhabi have produced a lot of useful data, which can now be analysed along with that from [the race]. The team’s priorities are clear and we are well aware what are the areas that did not match up to our expectations.”
“I am sure that thanks to the knowledge we acquired over the course of the season, we will be able to develop a more competitive car. Clearly, how much progress we make depends on the time available and the possibilities presented by the regulations, which for the moment, impose certain limits for everyone.”
“I have every confidence in the ability of the team,” insisted Raikkonen before returning to take part in further 2015 development work alongside the team.

KEEP CALM AND LOVE FERRARI
No way Kimi said that many words at one time...
Just kidden, I like our drivers.
Without agreeing or disagreeing with you: very well-expressed, Eddie.
The biggest question to me is what Ferrari thinks Seb brings to the table. Again, we may have made mistakes but Ferrari could not have reached the success it has if it is willing to part with that much money for nothing in return.
Sure, we will all have our opinions on the quality of Seb's titles and the easiest conclusion is that he was basically rolling on easy street when he collected 4 driver's championships but I wonder if Ferrari know something about him that only those deep-seated in the daily grind of Formula 1 would know.
Then again, maybe we've also gotten weaker in the area of driver signings. Bear in mind the same question could be asked about Kimi and we have yet to see any ROI on that deal.
As you say though, we support the team in its decisions and wish Ferrari success always. Roll on 2015.
I really think all of the Kimi quotes are straight out of the mouth of corporate communications and have no relation to anything Kimi said, or more likely didn't say.
"If I was driving for Red Bull [from 2008] probably I would have more championships, but because they were dominating between 2010 and 2014 probably I would never have driven for Ferrari. I am very happy and very proud to drive for Ferrari, all my time there.
