That means that the Hulk can't do WEC 6 hours of Spa because of Korea being the same weekend. Speaking of Korea if they have to have it, isn't having it back to back with Spain a bit of an odd decision?

Too bad that the final race is in Abu Dhabi again...

Really wish they would put the Brazilian GP or the Japanese GP back as the final race.

Me too Nero Horse, preferably Brazil last, and why has Korea even re-appeared on the calendar after it was criticised by everyone....money, I guess, but back to back with Spain makes a mockery of that with the expense involved for the teams.

The first driver for the third Porsche 919 Hybrid to be entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2015 has been signed: Nico Hülkenberg will join the Porsche Team.

The 27-year-old German will be the first active Formula One driver since 2009 to take the start of the famous endurance event. Before entering the race at the Sarthe on June 13/14, Nico will race the second generation of the innovative Le Mans Prototype on May 2 in the six-hour race at Spa.

Nico Hülkenberg: “Porsche and Le Mans – this combination probably attracts every race driver. I’ve been a Porsche fan for a long time and have been watching their return to the LMP1 class closely. The desire grew to drive that car at Le Mans. I am very pleased the 2015 Formula One calendar allows for it and I’m grateful to my Sahara Force India Formula One Team’s generosity to let me go for it. Now it’s up to me to work hard to satisfy both commitments.”

Never mind Brazil, I would much prefer Suzuka. While that hasn't happened, at least standing restarts have been rescinded. The virtual safety car will be interesting to 'see'.

Korea is widely expected to be cut as teams do not want more than 20 races/season.

    Also, not a great track.

Not sure how I feel about Korean GP, but I guess to be fair to them, their participation is not taking up spots that would otherwise be given to some other races as I don't think there's any other organizer who are trying to host a race in 2016.

Anyway, a few other changes announced along:

No double points and SC standing restart
    Virtual SC will be introduced
SC will now pit once the last lapped car has passed (instead of waiting for them to go around and catch up with the pack)
Minimum weight of cars will be increased from 701kg to 702kg (a whole 1 kg! :xmasconfused:)
No more super license for anyone under 18 years old starting 2016.

As well as some changes to penalty system

Always seemed to be surrounded by doubts from what I recall. Last word seemed to be an optimistic one, then pfffft... nothing at all!

slowly ... but only slowly I start liking the old system again with ten, eleven or twelve races max ...
    I mean: 29th of Nov?

We should make Spielberg / Austria last race ... then we can combine skiing with F1 ... so on Saturday the drivers must race a slalom somewhere near at the mountains, result will then be added to the qualifying result and Pirelli can work on a winter-F1-tyre for the weekend ...

"If I was driving for Red Bull [from 2008] probably I would have more championships, but because they were dominating between 2010 and 2014 probably I would never have driven for Ferrari. I am very happy and very proud to drive for Ferrari, all my time there.

To be honest it suites me just perfect. I'll go again next year to my friend in Dubai and to Abu Dhabi for last race. In November it is pretty cold in Belgrade so it is good to travel somewhere warmer for tanning, swimming and Formula 1

Next year, the rules say that the number of engines drivers can use in a season is to be cut from five to four. But that presupposes there are no more than 20 races.
The rules say each driver will be allowed five engines "if the number of events in the championship, as originally scheduled, exceeds 20".
The key phrase being "as originally scheduled".
The calendar announced on Wednesday is the "confirmed" schedule. Yet one of the 21 races on it - Korea - is "to be confirmed".
So, now the Korean Grand Prix is on the calendar, teams can use five engines again in 2015. And that does not change even if the race drops off at a later date.

Clever. So the FIA are having to try to circumnavigate their own rules.

The 2014 weight limit was 691kg and it is now increased to 701kg to make it fairer to taller drivers like Ricciardo, Button and Hulkenberg (and future taller drivers)

701kg amended to 702kg - FIA must have forgot about dessert!

"The FIA President confirmed that the next meeting of the Strategy Group would take place on 18 December, and would focus reducing costs, improving the show, making cars quicker and more difficult to drive, and reviewing the technical and sporting regulations, with the aim of simplifying the rules where possible."
