Ecclestone remains steadfast on Monza threat

    http://www.gptoday.com/full_story/vi..._Monza_threat/

Bernie Ecclestone remains firm on the threat facing the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, insisting he is willing to allow the iconic venue to slip from the Formula 1 calendar after 2016 if a new deal cannot be reached.

One of the sport's oldest and most historic venues, Monza faces the axe following next year's event as organisers struggle to come to a new agreement with the commercial rights holders over a new contract.

Indeed, with Ecclestone refusing to budge on higher race hosting fees that organisers say they can't afford to match without assistance from outside investors, Monza's exit could see Italy go the way of France and Germany before it, the former having not hosted a round since 2008, while the latter was withdrawn from this year's schedule last month.

Challenged on the prospect of losing another familiar European venue from a schedule that has seen just three all-new European rounds added since 1994, Ecclestone says the loss of the French event is indicative that no race is safe.

“We will have to wait and see,” he said. “They [Monza] don't have an agreement, a bit like Germany really. I'll tell you something, we were told that [it would be a bad thing for F1] when we didn't have a race in France, and Germany now. We have some good replacements.

Pressed on whether Italy could still remain on the calendar, albeit at a different venue, Ecclestone insisted that could happen, though only Imola is likely to be considered a viable alternative.

Since the turn of the century, just three all-new venues (not including revived former venues) – the now cancelled Valencia street circuit European Grand Prix, the Turkish Grand Prix (albeit on the Asian side of Istanbul) and the recently introduced Russian Grand Prix.

Seems it may be time for Ferrari to issue a statement to the media giving their thoughts on the matter!

If Monza organizers couldn't sort out the problems, Monza will be the next. It seems reasonable. Money talk

Appears to be no end to Bernie's list of new places that want to host a F1 race, that's bad for the European venues, well except Monaco of course... funny, the one that makes the most off of its race week-end doesn't have to pay a hosting fee!!??

Basically, the man is considered irreplaceable So much of what he does is on a handshake & I think Bernie has done little to pave the way for any possible candidate to replace him. My fear is he doesn't wake up one of these days & all of F1 goes into a terminal tailspin, but I think he is smart enough to not have done that.
The article I linked is actually an interesting read though!

Well it doesn't matter that much as we think it is what Bernie says. F1 is a big corporation there are a lot of people who decides. And unfortunately Monza owners cant deliver the money for the F1 membership and organization. Bernie is an evil old man i can agree on that. But its not only up to him, its up to the whole board of directors who control F1. I cant remember what was the name of the corporation that owns F1. But they must give Monza a special lower money demand to participate in F1, because of course, Monza its a huge part of F1 soul and a hell of a track.

He's just chasing the money & will go to whoever is prepared to pay the most to host a race, doesn't give a stuff about staying in Europe or the future of F1.
I'm sure he's just going to milk the sport for every penny he can whilst he's around with the hope it self destructs when the time comes & he can no longer carry on.
Look at the recent comments he made about Manor & ridiculed the fans for their attempt to save Caterham.
For me it's as clear as black & white he feels nothing for the fans.
If Monza gets the wrath of the Bernie Broomstick I'm sure he will have another go at Silverstone before he's gone.
Having said that I doubt F1 would have lasted this long without him as it had little TV coverage in the UK back in the 80's with only highlights broadcasted close to midnight on a Sunday. Far too late for a Kid like me back then to stay up on a school night & with few homes having a VCR back then most simply went without.
So at least he's given us live races to watch if & when Europe disappears of the calendar.

It would be a disaster if Monza was removed from the f1 circuit, for me the most important ingredient in Formula one is Ferrari and then it's Monza, Bernie hands off or you will wake up with a horses head in your bed.

The heritage of F1 is a good part of it's mystique and allure although many modern fans may not
think as I do? Bernie the Ecc is always about money and may be at the stage in his life that he
doesn't give a hoot about anything but the possibility of losing his pile else who would provide
for his dimwit progeny after he makes his final pit stop? BOX Bernie BOX!!!!

Monza is the only circuit (now that Imola is not present) with a Tifosi connection. I wouldnt take superhard on the "warnings" so far from Bernie but I also do not doubt the force of that man when it comes to that. Of course, Ivan Capelli stated that he is optimistic about keeping Monza and I do think ultimately that will be the case. I think that all parties will come together in some way as losing Monza would not be desireable for anyone (not even B!). NOBODY wants this race to get out, just to refine the details.

Bernie on one of his dictatorship tour.

Despite concerns over the country's human rights record, Azerbaijan gets a clean chit from Bernie.

One of the ancestral homes of global oil production, where the very skyline celebrates the burning of fossil fuels, so it should fit right in with F1's green message.

Of issues of corruption, crime, political assassination and invasion threats to neighboring countries by president and 2012 Organized Crime and Corruption Person of the Year, Ilham Allyev, Ecclestone said :

I think everybody seems to be happy. There doesn't seem to be any big problem there.

    Well, OK then!

European Union regulations don't allow for public sector expenditures that benefit a single privately owned entity so Monza is, at the moment, toast.

    But no worries says Bernie,
as we have got good replacements, haven't we!
    Well, alrighty then!

    F1 show biz 2016 :
Toto - "Ferrari are a real threat" .... Nico - "Awesome, everything is just awesome" .....Lulu - "Mental strength man, lifestyle man, I'll drive at 400% as ever man".... and then suddenly a wild Bull out of nowhere slams into a Ferrari.
