I think the strategy today was good its just mercs are too fast on this track.

Since Kimi didn't use most of the upgrades we brought here and Sebastian did, comparing their pace over the whole race I think it's very hard to notice any difference...
Success is simple. Do what's right, the right way, at the right time.

Not hating the guy but Kimi really needs to step up his qualifying.

    ..especially with Monaco looming.

Disappointing pace, seems this year will be another 2011 or 2013, always 2nd/3rd fastest.

    Good job by Vettel today.

We had no way to stay in front of him as he had way better pace suggesting otherwise is just being silly.
Yes I have seen lap times and fact is Ham couldnt undercut Vettel, not only that he fell into traffic behind Raikkonen. Seriously, Vettel had 1.5s when Ham pittes and his pit stop was 3.2s, and Vettels was 2.2s. So hamilton had to make 2.5s in one lap to undercut him, and he didnt do it.

Simply put Vettel would come ahead in 2nd pit stop no matter what you say. Again, i realize they were just faster but like in Raikkonen/Bottas case its almost impossible to pass even if you are cutting the lead by 1s and have medium tires.

The car still struggles getting out of the corners. Poor traction. Need some efficient engine mapping, imho, as the torque still gives the rear some hard times.

Waiting for the engine update to be as strong as possible... 40+ seconds is too damn much, even for a circuit as Barcelona that suited those silver tractors...

It made a lot difference on the mediums and on the qualifying, there is no doubt that the new upgrades are working but i think this race isn't showing it properly.

That was 3rd pit stop not 2nd.

It's a rebound season anyway, our only target was to win at least 2 races and be contenders next season.

No his outlap would have been something like ~1.50. 1.29 was the first full lap he has done.

Didn't he also have to pass Kimi with DRS?

I think the fast pace of Mercedes, made Ferrari pitwall to look for another strategy but the outcome wasn't pleasant.

That was his second pit stop, it was when he did 1:29 and get past the lotus,
On his 3rd he was already ahead without any problem and all he had was 1 toro rosso which he got pass straight on next lap.

12:32 "You will have to pass Vettel on track," Mercedes tells Hamilton. "I can assure you that's pretty much impossible. Find another solution," he responds tetchily.

with so many new parts, the performance of our cars are not as great as it should be. Especially the gap to Mercs was even bigger

Good effort today, it was the max we could achieve. Merc is still the team to beat.

He passed Kimi on straight which not only didnt lost him time but gave him even more speed which led him to 12:9 in the lap.
So the only one actually costing him few tenths should be lotus for 3-4 corners.

Hamiltons pit stop was 3.4s and Vettels was 2.2s and his advantage before pit was 1.6s. So that means he had to make 3s in one lap which he couldnt. All im saying is that givong track position in Barca is suicidal and we shouldnt have done it thats all.

If Ferrari had great strategy in previous races, I think that today they could have done better. They should have pitted Vettel right after Hamilton, he could have had a better chance and for Kimi they should have kept him more with the hard tyres as he had plenty of time to catch Bottas until the end and with better tyres he could have taken him. That is my opinion, but after the race it's all about could've/should've. Time to move on and hope better for the next race even though Mercedes seem to hot to handle right now.

good race from the pit crew
good race from Seb, impressive driving in front of Lewis
good race from Kimi until the last stint, he should have been able to catch Seb so...

Lewis still had to follow him at Kimi's pace till the straight.

We can argue on and on what would happen if Seb pitted the next lap after Ham pitted and it's effects. But it won't change anything, it's pretty much the same as with the Merc boys in a sense in what would have happened if Ham didn't have a poor start. It is what it is, breaks of the race didn't totally go our way. A lot of work for the boys to maximize and analyze all the upgrades they brought. 20+ish laps from two practice sessions aren't enough to fully optimize all those upgrades.

Not really, he had a 2 second gap and he reached behind right before the straight line with a fresh tyres while Kimi was already at 18th lap with them.
