...Grosjean hopes moving to Haas will give him a strong chance of taking Kimi Raikkonen's seat at Ferrari in 2017.

Smart move on his part. Once he got over rookie jitters & trying to prove himself every race, he has settled in very nice & I think he's considered a top talent up & down pit row. I liked the guy right away, was happy to see him turn things around even while being under the microscope for every little slip-up he might make.

I'd like to see him in a Ferrari. Ferrari have always had a soft spot for French speakers :)
Bad move if he goes to Haas. It will be a consistent middle to backmarker (like Mclaren this year). He should wait it out in Lotus till Renault gets its act together.

I also remember some other famous names? Arnoux, Tambay, Villeneuve (francophone), Alesi, Pironi, Ickx (Walloon)

Grosjean is a fast driver with talent. But he lacks consistency. His performance is erratic and hence wont fit into the role we need our driver to do from a WCC point of view.

Since his race ban after Spa, he has got his head down and calmed down. Realised you can not win a race from the first corner.

I thought if Renault buy Lotus, he would stay. Being French etc etc, but reckon that maybe Pastor, and maybe Nico Prost. I have not read Nico Prosts name anywhere, i just suddenly thought Alain Prost is heavily involved in Renault.

Anyway, 2017, way not put him alongside Seb, could be good. He is good driver, now is calmed down and, use old cliche, matured.

Grosjean is for real a good driver, but he's no where near as good as Kimi. Ferrar's next driver should be Felipe [ 17pts] Nasr.

I think Grosjean is replacing Raikkonen in Ferrari. Imo, it makes so much sense. And fits the pattern.
Ferrari never prefer to take unknown quantities into the team. They took Irvine, then took his old teammate Barrichello. They took Raikkonen and Massa who had driven for Sauber. They even took Raikkonen back! Now their "friendly" team Haas are taking in RoGro who was also Raikkonen's teammate while James Allison and other engineers from Ferrari were together with them in Lotus. He must be one of the best known drivers on the grid for Ferrari.

Just because of this i think that Ferrari may bring Massa back after KR retires.
But after Massa said that he wasn't respected enough at Ferrari i kind of doubt it, but who knows...

Some of us would love to get Felipe back but it won't happen, he gave his soul to Ferrari but felt unappreciated once Alonso arrived, and he's happier where he is at Williams. He's also in his own words 'getting too old for this', but I don't buy that!! Grosjean is a different driver now and I'd happily have him at Ferrari in 2017.

PEREZ SET TO BE UNVEILED AS LOTUS DRIVER FOR 2016

Sergio Perez is set to be unveiled as the second Lotus driver for 2016, Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting on Tuesday. Even though the Renault buyout is said to be imminent, it is believed Frenchman Romain Grosjean is departing the Enstone team for Haas-Ferrari.

At the same time, Mexican Perez was thought to be staying at Force India next year, but the Silverstone based team has confirmed only Nico Hulkenberg for 2016 so far. Also a former McLaren and Sauber driver, 25-year-old Perez retains strong Mexican backing, headed by the well-known billionaire Carlos Slim.

Lotus has already announced that Pastor Maldonado, the controversial Venezuelan driver with reportedly $50 million in PDVSA backing in tow, is staying in 2016. A vacancy at Mercedes-powered Force India could pave the way for German Pascal Wehrlein to make his F1 debut, although the DTM driver has also been linked with Manor. (GMM)

Perez: Renault switch was “a serious option”

Sergio Perez has admitted that moving to Renault had been a serious option for him, before he eventually decided to commit his Formula 1 future to Force India.

The Mexican's contract extension for 2016 was announced ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix, and the news brought a swift end to speculation linking him with a move to join the potential new works team being put together by the French car manufacturer.

But although talks with Renault took place, in the end Perez believed his immediate future was best placed staying put for another year.

His deal is for one year, with options beyond that.

When asked by Motorsport.com about the Renault interest, Perez said: “Obviously you always listen to other options and other offers, and obviously Renault – if they come – they are a very attractive team.

“But at the moment, I knew that the best for me and the best place available was staying here.”

Perez made it clear, however, that continued uncertainty about if Renault's plans will get the green light was not a factor in his decision.

“No. It has nothing to do with that,” he explained. “It was obviously a serious option but for me I always made my mind clear, knowing the prospects of the team and knowing what we were doing in the background.

“That is why I always wanted to stay. I am very happy to stay.”

    Force India progress

Perez is upbeat about the potential for Force India next year, and thinks the outfit can make progress to challenge nearer the front.

“I am very happy here, and I believe in the team,” he said. “I think the team has very good prospects in the future.

“We are improving what we did last year and I see no reason why next year we cannot do even better than this year.

“I think the team is finding good stability in all the aspects, which definitely is important for us. That made me feel very comfortable with my decision and I want to say I am happy to confirm that one now.”
