Vettle needs to really jump up front first turn, 1st lap " Ferrari Alonso ' style. Hopefully Kimi can out drive Wlliams, it's not impossible.

Raikkonen said the tyres were not good for the lap in Q3, same with what Seb said for his tyres in Q2. And Vettel will start the race on those tyres he didn't really like. I didn't see the long runs. But I hope deg is not higher than Williams. It was higher than Red Bull in Singapore.

On another note, this season Raikkonen got stuck behind drivers whose teammates Vettel managed to overtake in the same race. And every race Vettel needed to go fast to catch up with someone or pull up a gap, he had more pace than Raikkonen actually, except for Bahrain. I'd say hold your horses. Race is tomorrow.

Also, overall we see a lot less flag or SC compared to the past, how do you figure these young guys create "too many" problems??

I agree with you. I hope you are NOT wrong

Gaining position at start is called "Ferrari Alonso style"?

Maybe Bottas can have a good start for a change. He is quick off the line but cannot stick the moves at start. Hope he bothers one of the Mercedes cars (I guess Hamilton) and Vettel can have them both But you never know with the starts. Let's not lose positions....

With these new start procedures, most effected drivers were Kimi, Lewis & rosberg.
Although merc were able to reduce the loss, Kimi lost podium opportunity.

Lewis being on pole most every race rarely had to do any jump ahead passing , Alonso style. Kimi I can see for sure giving it his all to move up off the start . Even Nico usually in 2nd had to hold rather than pass anyone, aanyone being Lewis.

As much as I love this track I think it's going to be a huge Merc cruise tomorrow and we'll be struggling with the Williams or even RB's. Very tempted to stay in bed and record the race, not sure I fancy getting up early for what probably will be boring.

Nico said that he is here to fight, that could be our salvation when Nico and Lewis takes each other out of the race in first corner.
    You never know.

07:00 in the morning here... Not so early... I am afraid also that this is going to be one of those boring 1-2 Mercedes win races...

Most probably we will struggle with Williams tomorrow and Mercedes will be untouchable. But if it rains...who knows.

Abotu Kvyat, i'm very happy he is OK. What i love about this old school tracks is that they are not forgiving at all, especially Suzuka, maybe the hardest track on the calendar?

Seb pleased with progress during qualifying

Sebastian Vettel: “It was a tricky session for myself. I didn’t really get going at the beginning, I couldn’t feel the car so I struggled a bit to find the right balance. On my second run on the medium tyres in Q3, there was a big improvement as compared to the lap I had done in Q2, as if the car had “become alive”. In the end we can be reasonably happy, I had a decent lap and I was a lot happier than previously; having scored a lap time which is competitive. Third place on the grid would have been the maximum today, but I missed this by one position. Mercedes are back to their usual level of competitiveness, as we have seen – unfortunately – all year. They will be the ones to beat tomorrow, but for sure we will try everything we can, even if we may expect stronger competition from Red Bull Racing and Williams.”

Kimi “disappointed” with aborted final run

Kimi Raikkonen: “The result of this qualifying is a bit disappointing, as we had a good speed all the way through and the behavior of the car was pretty good. The first two qualifying laps went well, bu my first run in Q3 was average, my tires did not have the right grip. It’s a bit disappointing not having been able to run my second lap: I’m sure we could have improved, but the red flag stopped the session. For the race tomorrow it’s a bit unknown, because nobody had the time to run in dry conditions and do long runs, but I think we should be fine. Hopefully we have done all things correctly so that we can gain some positions. It’s going to be a long race, starting behind other cars, but we’ll try to make a good start and then go from there.”

If Seb passes to get into 3rd and stays with Nico and Lewis. I can see Merc bringing in team orders. They already said that they will have to start thinking about that. But to be honest, think Merc be way to far in front. Seb and Kimi be fighting Williams and Dani Ric tomorrow.

    Positive Vibes

Let's be positive about tomorrow! Let's send our Team some positive vibes.

We have a hugely improved SF-15T that's has brought us fans lots joy & pride this year. We have two fighters piloting "The Red Stallion". So let's be positive that we going to kick some butt tomorrow.

Verstappen is such a rookie. Pulling over to the left and then pulling over to the right just as he's about to run out of power. Then people complain about him getting a penalty. The way Verstappen parked his car is extremely dangerous and if a driver had a lapse, he'd have crashed straight into the Toro Rosso. He needs to learn how to driver a road car first (or park one at least).
Vous resterez toujours en nos coeurs, Jules.

I'm sure he knows how to drive and park a road car, parallel parking or horizontal xD He is an F1 driver.
I'm sure after this he learned his mistake.

Nope, you never do. Seems there's no fight in him, no burning hunger to win. He's happy to collect his pay cheque and come 2nd each race. A modern day Ricardo Patrese it seems.

I'm with you 100% Great to see someone else with positive Ferrari attitude. Merc has enough fans, no need to join them thinking only they can 1, 2 .

A podium here would be like a win. It's all down to the circuit characteristics and harder tyre compounds. But it looks like Williams will be strong so most likely the race will look like Barcelona or Silverstone. With a bit of luck one of the cars might end up ahead of them. Kimi looked quicker than Seb but the red flag ended that possibility. Rain like at Silverstone would be good.

The tyre pressures could cause a problem for many cars in the race tomorrow according to most drivers. They've complained that high pressure is causing tyres to overheat and as a result having less grip. Since we are easy on our tyres and we generally take time to put heat into the harder compound I think this might play into our hands, I hope.

I don't think they'd be using team orders at this point just because Vettel is right behind them in the race. Though I must admit I don't have the confidence that we can get ahead and stay ahead of any Williams or Red Bull cars.

Why is undercut not likely on this track by the way?

Why would we b fighting against RB??? They don't have enough power on this track, only the saving grace for them is the tyre strategy. They r easy on their tyres will last long.
    1. I think tmrw Seb or bottas gonna take challenge (Williams getting impressive starts with new start procedures in) to one of the mercs at start & Williams don't know how to react to strategies & manage race , so they will b sitting ducks.
    2. If Lewis gets ahead, he would be controlling the race n will b in cruise mode. Either we need to settle for 2nd or 3rd at most. So we need jump Lewis at the start n control him.

Because this is a downforce and power track, and they have df in abundance. If you watched quali, you know they are not that far off the pace.

Ferrari likes the compounds from last race, so like it or not, Pirelli
calls what tires they bring..they also knows who likes what compounds.

If I were a betting man, I would be betting on silver, not red... My prediction is a Mercedes 1-2 with Vettel on the third step. The only chance he has at a victory is to get them at the start, apply the same pressure he did in Hungary, and make Hamilton lose his cool.

Still upbeat about the race. Think Spa.

Though I hope Pirelli are now clear that a tyre's end-of-life means it loses performance and not existence.
