Fastest lap of 2015 (1:36.311 Kimi Raikonnen) broken already by Rosberg by 2.8 seconds. How much faster 2016 cars are ??

If we would be "gambling" on the medium tyre for the race, why use it now?

i don't think anyone will use medium tire in the race; we and they only use them in free practice i think in order to test updates because it's more consistent and lasts more laps then the other softer tires

But why not the medium tyre?
I've rewatched the 2015 race and after the first pit stops both Mercs and Seb went for the Soft, Kimi for the Medium, and kimi was faster then Seb end as fast as the Mercs. His stint on medium was really really good.
I know this year is different etc, but still. I think it would be interesting if we used the medium on a long run in FP2 to see what is does... Could be interesting to split strategy on both drivers.
I don't see the point of using the SS in the race..

Hm... Wonder what we are up to, lap times aren't too encouraging. Good to see Kimi in P3, but its not good enough.

SkySports has a theory in which Ferrari might be able to match Mercedes pace in exchange for reliability so they are running even more detuned engines in practice to preserve the engines.

Interesting. Kind of silly, maybe, but interesting.

Another theory from Sky Sports, "Ferrari weren't running because of the track conditions not being representative of the race"

I don't think we were sandbagging dudes. Kimi's time was quicker than anyone else and Seb would have added another 0.3-0.4 on to of that. That would make us 0.7-0.8 above the 3rd best team. Also Kimi's FP1 time already matched his qually time in 2015 on the same tire. The Mercs also did their laps on 10+lap stint's so the they weren't running on fumes. It looks like our PU is poor this year, and this is a power circuit.

To say that Merc looks strong would be an understatemant. We are surely faster the last year, and last year Merc most likely, but we are not fast enough. They are killing it.
