Sad but understandable. Good luck James for the future and thank you .

On the other hand, I have positive feeling about Mattia Binotto. Our Power Unit under his leadership improved dramtically from 2014 till today. He proved he is capable of doing big steps, so lets hope he will achieve the same as TD.

Scuderia and James Allison jointly decide to part ways (Ferrari Media)

Maranello (Italy), July [27], 2016 – Ferrari N.V. (“Ferrari”) (NYSE/MTA: RACE) announces that after three years of working together, Scuderia Ferrari and James Allison jointly decided to part ways.

Maurizio Arrivabene, Team Principal of Scuderia Ferrari, commented as follows:
“The Team would like to thank James for his commitment and sacrifice during the time spent together, and wishes him success and serenity for his future endeavors.”

    James Allison stated:
“During the years I spent at Ferrari, at two different stages and covering different roles, I could get to know and appreciate the value of the team and of the people, women and men, which are part of it. I want to thank them all for the great professional and human experience we shared. I wish everybody a happy future with lots of success.”

Mattia Binotto will take on the role of Chief Technical Officer at Scuderia Ferrari.

So the probably best man Ferrari had leaves. Roll on 2017 disaster.

So sad for James, I can hardly imagine how hard it must be for him. Wish him good luck.

Very unfortunate but understandable considering Allison family's loss earlier this year. Also a bit sudden but I suppose he will be working for Renault, as rumoured, so gardening leave is a must.

Allison will be replaced with Mattia Binotto, who will take on the role of Chief Technical Officer at Scuderia Ferrari after moving across from the engine department. After a spell as a race engine engineer, and chief engineer, he became head of engine and KERS in 2009 – before stepping up to chief operating officer of the power unit at the end of 2014.

They are putting an engine guy as CTO when aero is making a comeback. I envisage repeat of 2014 in 2017.

As said, thats sad. Ferrari on the down trend. I still thing, there were some powers within the team that partly kept Allison away from implementing his views and intentions.
I think sooner or later Aldo Costa will head back to Italy to save them.

I think all the basic ideas are already set and almost whole 2017 car is completed. This was started under JA. Everybody here is just negative, doomsaying and whatever. First of all this years car made completely under JA supervision is not a wonder. It is just a good but oversensitive car, that is all. JA never repeated the success he had when he was in Renault. He is very kind and loyal man, but results are not there. But almost everyone here is sure that we are lost without giving the team chance. I will just wait and see, after some time I can make my opinion.

JA did very well at lotus with the budget they had and financial problems.
It is my opinion that we should add value to the team not let people go. Even if lets say Brawn comes back I think JA and Brawn could have worked together.
There are so few people that can bring success in this business car wise, so i am going with the doomsayers on this one if nobody else huge comes along. We will struggle big time

I am not saying we will not struggle, but it is not any change from current situation. We struggle 8 years in a row, some years more some less, but the struggling is continuous. And you can see even big name as James Allison wasnt able to bring us back to the absolute top. For me it does not matter whether we are second or sixth in the championships, it is no difference. And I am a fan old enough to see, that we have tendency to oscillate in form, one year better, one year worse. And based on this formula, next year should be slightly better than this year. And after all, it is only stupid sport, we have much bigger problems here in Europe than racing. So what, Ferrari will not win next year. Nothing changed.

That would only work if the individual is willing to stay. If Allison has asked Ferrari to void his contract so he can be at home with his kids then there is nothing that Ferrari can do to make him want to stay. If his heart is not in it, then his work will be ineffective. Why force a guy to stay when he doesn't want to? Could be detrimental to the program rather than instrumental.

Nothing like "family reasons" mentioned in the announcement. For me this means he is being fired.

After going through the team announcement a couple of times that is how I too see the situation.

If that is what actually has happened then it is very, very sad.

i guess we will NEVER know now, would we??? unless JA will come out and say exactly what happened, which i'm sure he will NOT (out of respect for Ferrari) OR as he's probably been given a HEFTY severance pay to keep his mouth shut and to just walk out..

You can say he was fired, but given whats going on w/his family,
I knew he would leave. He hasnt been around much since that happnd, n I'll
bet he's been gone for awhile...ever since we started spiraling.

On the car: You cant blame the failure of the F16 on him though..the car is simply
too slow. Thats the engine, and very few times this year were we fast enough to win..
    Actually none times this year..

Im not going to say doom years ahead, as I do hope Ferrari finds someone that works
well w/the team. Unless we get someone real good, Vet will leave.

This constant instability is the reason why Ferrari sucks so bad. Couple that with the lack of innovation, for whatever internal reason, and all I see is rough seas in the future.

You used the word Innovation rightly Ferrari is the least of the top team in this area, like they wont employ young drivers they wont also employ young engineer who are not afraid to try new things, the present setup sucks

This is really bad. We really need to keep our chairman out of team. To much pressure is not helping

I'm not surprised about Allison's departure, whether it is for personal reasons or disagreements with Ferrari (Marchionne) is open to debate. This season's car hasn't been any better than last year's car, despite all the promise shown earlier in the season and the team now finds itself having to pick itself up and carry on with whatever JA has already implemented. Trying to be optimistic, maybe this will do us a favour and we can bring in some new ideas, but this is sure to have our competitors salivating. I have an open mind as to where it will lead, but I wish Sig Binotto every success. I'm not sure I'd like to be in Maurizio Arrivabene's shoes, he must be a bit nervous.

There was a rumour of Renault-Allison link. Have you seen anything more of this lately?

That wouldn't be a surprise given Luca Marmorini is over there too.

Man, doom gloom despair..Some a u guys never have anything good to say at all.
How about...A new beginning w/a new guy, good luck new guy.
JA was great, so give the guy a break. He has to do what he has to do.
3 years isnt that long and if I remember correctly, it took Todt n the guys quite awhile to get things together.
Add to that a whole new n crappola engine formula, tires that suk and new people in new places.
You could tell the last few races that he was gone, but theres always hope when u r a Tifosi.
We are Ferrari, we are strong and we will reign again!

The poor guy has had a very traumatic and sad situation happen for him and his family I can't blame him if he wants to be with his kids. Anyway this car isn't very good in fact a step backwards from last year and this one has been completely under his eye. I think he's overrated anyway, this isn't necessarily a bad thing.
