Wouldn't make the slightest difference. We'll qualify p5 or p6,take the penalty and make up places during the race and finish where he started. That's the state of our team at the moment.

I couldnt agree more. I seriously think our structure will make a difference soon as early as next year at the Australian GP

I missed the race sadly and just watched my recording.

What the heck is up with Seb? he seems to be making a lot of mistakes recently :( Hope he sorts it out soon.

Cannot believe the only race of the year I miss 'live' and Hammy's engine blows!! lol, just my luck

So Seb gets a 3-place grid drop for Suzuka when Max can get away with similar moves with no penalty. Talk about the lack of consistency. A good race and glad RIC got the win, but those RBs have most definitely become bad news for Ferrari this season, constantly out-developing us, and next year could be even harder with Mclaren-Honda catching up. Kimi did what he could but the car just wasn't quick enough to keep the podium in reach against ROS, painful viewing once again.

I think part of Seb's problem is he's trying too hard and gets himself stressed out!!!!
On the other hand Kimi stays cool and consistently brings in the points.

Maybe Seb needs a week holiday on Eddie's island in the Bahamas!!!
But would they have anything in common? Apart from both driving in red I think no!!!!!!

3 place for Seb is a bit of a joke considering what Max gets away with.

The worst part is when Kimi was battling Rosberg and Rosberg was catching him Kimi asked for more power from the PU and the engineers were silent , however as we did not get the full Radio message I presume it was a negetive from the pit wall as he did not appear to be suddenly quicker

Seb 'expects' to win, so he pushes too hard when he's not capable of it. A more sensible approach would be best.

I'd like to get another top driver next to Seb, but also its unfair to sack Kimi who has been quite good this year.

Seb has a top driver next to him already.

Kimi is good, but I don't quite rate him up there with the very best in the sport at the moment. The same can be said of Vettel this year I guess though.

As opposed to many here, I think it was Seb's fault at turn 1, again. Kimi did best with what he had. Man, I'm disappointed for Hamilton, better driver this year but unlucky. Ricciardo superb again and well deserved win. Alonso driver of the day

Maurizio Arrivabene: “Clearly, this was not the result we had wanted. In a very tactical race like the one we had today, having both cars on track would have been of fundamental importance. So, seeing what had happened to Seb, we planned a very aggressive strategy for Kimi, but then everybody else did the same. It’s a pity that some damage affected Kimi’s performance today: first, a piece of rubber got stuck in the rear wing profiles, causing the wing to stall and then there was the collision with Rosberg which caused further damage to the bodywork. As for Seb’s incident at the start, I talked to him and I’d rather not comment on the stewards’ decisioni.”

Kimi Raikkonen: “Fourth position is not the result we wanted, but today unfortunately we couldn’t get more. Overall the car was not too bad and the handling was quite ok, but the pure lap time was not there. We were missing speed and we never had the chance to challenge the cars in front . When Rosberg passed me I suddenly had to turn right to avoid him: I knew he was going to hit me and we both would have probably been out: my rear floor was damaged because of that and Nico got penalized. After that I did my best to keep the ten seconds gap to him, but unfortunately it was not enough to get a better result. Obviously we want to be higher up, but now we have to take what we get. We’ll try to improve and push forward to make the car faster and be able to challenge the others.”

Sebastian Vettel: “We had a good start, then I was going side by side with Max. We were both battling for position into turn one. Nico in the front was turning in and he obviously decided to pick his line, which is absolutely fair and in his right. At that point with the speed I had I couldn’t slow down anymore and I was also pushed by Max to the right. I did my best under braking but I couldn’t avoid the impact. It was an unfortunate chain reaction which ruined my race and Nico’s one. I can’t do more than apologize to Nico, because the accident had nothing to do with him being in front. I think it was different to the case in Spa with Max and Kimi, as Max and I were trying to fight for turn 1, and Nico was trying to do a different thing ahead. I don’t have to comment on what Max said afterwards.”

But Kimi is a top driver and under Arrivabene's leadership seems to have the determination and hunger to win. Unlike Michael both our current drivers need the car to perform. Michael could make a fairly mediocre car look good.
Put Lewis in our current car and he would not perform.
Look at McLaren first half of 2009 season.

Well, normal Ferrari way would be sack Kimi and get another 30 million guy with Seb. What would that help?
Like getting rid of all guys in factory after bad year - did any good?
If Kimi only could have reliable car during McLaren years, he now would be 3 time WC. Then we could rate him higher, right?

Once again... team shoul stop make employees beeing scared of loosing job. Some courage and innovative thinking is needed. Resources are good as are the drivers, we need long term thinking and support.

I agree with you about Michael, he was top class. But Alonso could do similar thing, just look at season 2012...
It was a mistake to let him go!

Sometimes you need luck. And when luck strikes you, you need to be in a position to take advantage of it. Ferrari have neither luck nor the ability to take advantage of it.

    Sad on all accounts.

At least maybe Ham won't be WDC this year but I don't see Ferrari turning this around in 2017 either.

2016 will be another winless year for Ferrari. Two out of three years without a win. Flippin pathetic!

Had to miss today's race due to having to work.

Shame to read about Vettel's incident with max, and resulted in a penalty for Vettel.

This Max guy is really bad news for Ferrari. So often our drivers get into trouble when racing around him.

Grid penalty??? . Turn 1 was definitely an ambitious move for Vettel, but it was a racing incident. He was putting a move on Max and they didnt even touch.

Otherwise a fantastic race to watch. The wheel to wheel racing between Daniel and Max was outstanding.

    FIA stewards and their consistency.

So Spa was a racing incident but Malaysia isn't. Vettel doesn't deserve that. This is a typical first lap incident.

Sorry guys but i blame Seb for this one. He should know by now not to try and win the race in 1st corner. We gave crashstappen a lot of criticism for doing just that, i am giving Seb the same now. Hopefully he keeps his chin up and does better next race.

He admitted his mistake. Also he's penalized for that.

rookie mistake by Sebastian , I expect a lot better from a world champ , Kimi did reasonably well within expectations for both car and driver.
Please stop talking about stopping developing this years car, cant have the same conversation season after season, it is embarrassing ,
We must be bold when designing cars and stop following trends.
About letting or not letting alonso go , it is irrelevant , he wanted to leave, he gave it all race after race so haters stop.

Not everyone agrees with what I said. Furthermore I believe that taking out people should be punished severely, according to how much damage to the other driver's race. In this case seems fair as Nico finished 3rd, if the driver is out of the race and finishes 22nd there should be 22 positions on the grid next race, we will be more protected from crashstappen, and others will open their eyes in the 1st corner

Nico's driving into Kimi was borderline racing incident, it was a tad reckless in my honest and modest opinion. 10 seconds post race it is a joke, he should have paid that penalty with a drive through

Nico Rosberg said in the post-race press conference that he got t-boned by a 4 time World Champion. Max started to laugh hard.

Seb at fault but a 3-place penalty is ridiculous. He hit Nico in traffic, at turn one, at the race start. Rosberg got +10 secs for hitting Kimi... on open track. Are circumstances like these not what steward discretion is there for?

Any body seen onboard from Max ves on start?

My love for the sport is so high that I still like to continue,
but I don’t see any reason to fix myself too early. © MS
