New season, same headline - Merc-Hamilton lead FP1. It’s getting old and tiresome. I personally can’t endure another season of Merc dominance. Ferrari need to do better, RedBull and McLaren need to do better. The FIA need to do better. We fans deserve different results. It’s funny how the rule book was torn up when Ferrari was winning - yet everything is status quo with Merc-Hamilton domination. I’m not complaining, just want more from this sport that I love.

I wasn’t paying attention to that; looks to be a long short season for us but we shall see.

Thanks for your reply. I respect that you laid it out in a sober fashion.

The poster was referencing a photo of Lewis; the obvious presumption is Lewis’ appearance in said photo prompted him being called a bonehead. I wanted to know why that was.

Just switched the tv on to watch a bit of FP2 on Sky F1 and straight away they decide to have a chat with their mate horner, it's just like they haven't been away!

I see they're debating the movable steering wheel again, surely this could've been sorted out during the months break we've had? Not that I think anything will come of a protest, bit like the mercs suspension system.

FIA need to stop pussyfooting around.

Either ban it or declare it legal. None of this wait till after the race just do it now.

I couldn't agree more, they're doing themselves or the sports no favours.

On an unrelated most of Schumacher's records are going to be beaten this season, I'm really really really sad about that.

Maybe, but looking at these laps and times from the mercs and pink mercs I think we're going to struggle here.

I thought the mighty..superduper...Red Bull and Max will challenge Mercedes...but what happened...nearly 7 tenths down.

And according to the "experts" here, Ferrari is 4th or 5th best...surely behind the mighty Max and Red Bull...but now we're ahead.

I know it's just FP2 and I shouldn't read too much...but if people can write off Ferrari based on the winter testing, then I can do the same using the FP2 times. I mean afterall, FP2 times are much more representative.

Well atleast we're not P10, as many experts here would have us believe.
I think we should wait a little bit more, because there's more to come from both Ferrari & Red Bull.

Mercedes miles ahead. RP and Red Bull are pretty close to each other. Leclerc's struggling a bit on softs, although he packed up his pace a little. Vettel on hards doing 1m09's.

Top speed wise (race sim): Ferrari and Mercedes evenly matched, Red Bull 5-7kph slower

It really doesn't look good for us right now.

I think we need to accept that until Lewis beats all of Michael's records, no car\team will be allowed to beat them. It's the fia's desire.

I think RB will have something up their sleeve for this (home) race.
    We'll see on Sunday.

Easy for mercedes miles in front. 7th title awaits Lewis. Ferrari should look at where there failures have them how it makes them feel the impact that there failures are having on the drivers and there fans. This must be used as motivation to rise and to win.The Ferrari emblem is not enough any more.

I don't think today went as bad as people were thinking.

We were slower in top speed than even the Alfas, so we have much to gain there when we decide to turn it up. And the long run pace is good and consistent with better tyre wear than last season.

Binotto would disagree. As per him, today was as bad as expected. Long run pace is good enough compared to whom? McLaren? Renault? Because Mercedes, Red Bull and Racing Point had better pace.

Binotto has also revealed that Ferrari hasn't upgraded its 2020 power unit since Melbourne in March.

"We've got the same engine we had at the time in Australia," he said. "We shut down the factory for a long time, so there was very little time to develop. We didn't bring anything different. Now the power unit is frozen for the season.

"I know that other manufacturers had the opportunity to continue working and developing. We were aware of that, they took advantage, that's part of the game. That's part of all the entire compromises we have accepted during the shutdown period, looking ahead for the good of the sport."
If that's true, which i'm guessing it is, how is letting other teams develop while you twiddle your thumbs, and let them sit half a second a lap faster than you and dominate the races, "good for the sport".

I think Italians, in F1 especially, do more than twiddle their thumbs, eat pasta, and drink wine while in this 60+ day shutdown.

It certainly was'nt bringing upgrades or a new spec PU that's for sure. That's gonna have to wait till Hungary.

The new Ferrari looks incredible though! Today was the first time I saw it on video and was really impressed with how good it looks, one of the best looking cars I've seen in awhile!

It's going to get a make-over come Hungary....especially in the nose. The current nose is too wide so expect a much narrower nose i.e. Mercedes, RedBull, RP20, Renault.
