Perez is starting on softs next to Lewis who's on mediums. Perez needs to have a good start and beat Lewis into T1. IF Perez has a good start and overtakes Lewis, then Max should tuck underneath Perez into T1. That's a possiblity IF the track is dry.

Of course, Perez has to pit earlier than Lewis. I would pit Max with Lewis.
It's not how start but how you finish.

Yep, Perez would be playing the number 2 role here perfectly. Hold Lewis up, and then it's basically a tyre preservation battle between Lewis and Max.

There's a chance it compromises Perez enough to give Leclerc 3rd.

And there are some guys out of position who are fast with medium tyres to start like Sainz.

If he made the same mistake crashtappen made he wouldn't have been on pole.

Can anyone tell me why is there such huge difference between Charles and Carlos? Did Carlos get held up due to red/yellow flag.
I do not agree that Ferrari is being biased as it is made out here by some members, the team as a whole suffers EoD.
The car definitely looks competitive and we should be scoring some points here. I hope Carlos climbs up the order. A 4-5 place would be great if everything goes as planned, anything above it is a bonus.

He was only 0.3 seconds off Leclerc in Q2, which isn't bad by any measure. It's just that the pack has tightened up in qualifying.

Woah.... just 0.3s and already 11th!! Sainz would be disappointed. Feel bad for him.
I hope he can get some points for us in the race.
Hope there won't be any spoilsport for us. If it rains, be it Turkey 2020 race.

The car for sure! Just look at Bottas. 99 poles , big deal! Even Russell managed to go from his zeros to 9th place in the car.

Track looks sunny for now. No rain in the forecast during track time. 5 hours to go.

Red Bull stated that Perez is free to race for the win. So no nr2 role whatsoever.
But besides that, if all goes wel at the start and considering the tyres, we could look at Perez - Hamilton - Leclerc - Verstappen at the end of lap 1.
Would be a nice situation for a great race.

    We might get it.....

The weather forecast that Meteo France send to the teams says that from 13h00 there is a 60% chance of isolated showers.

I would rather the race remain dry whilst its early season so have a better idea of who is where in performance on a few different style of tracks. Today is RB v Merc at the sharp end and Ferrari v McLaren for 3rd best team. (that's how I'm looking at it so not disappointed if Ferrari finish 5th or 6th.

I feel the same, I would like to see the relative performance in dry conditions to see where we stand. But it is raining at the moment.

Tamburello is soaking wet, pit straight barely wet. Guess if it stays this way it will be declared wet and all start on inters? Cannot turn up at 300kph into Tamburello on slicks in current conditions it would end up like the 1st start at Spa 98.
