    Hungarian GP 2021 : Race

Thunderstorms are coming. It rained earlier. Should spice things up.

Max takes on a new ICE unit after Honda found a crack. Max is on number 3 with regards to the ICE.

Current radar suggests rain will start prior to the race. It's notoriously unpredictable this time of year in Central Europe though so remains to be seen where it lands. The CAPE convective index is much higher in the surrounding regions but once a mass of rain has started moving it won't matter too much considering there are no natural barriers around Budapest. Making the race a bit of a lottery definitely would be good. Hopefully another 2011 race with Hammy and the Bottler spinning in all directions and Ferrari picking up an underdog podium

Latest FIA guidance to teams calls for 60% rain (shower/thunderstorm) risk 3pm local; rising to 80% at 4pm-5pm. Amber warning for thunderstorms (potentially severe) is in force from Hungarian Meteorological Service.

Dry start but rain falling within a few minutes could be fun. Especially if the leaders have passed the pits when it starts pouring down and hopefully the softs will be a major advantage just to get back to the pits

That being said if there's thunderstorms I doubt they'll be able to run. Surely at that point the grandstands need to be evacuated?

Light rain has already arrived in Érd at the southern edge of the metropolitan area. Gárdony (roughly 35 miles/55 km south) is already getting hammered.

Looks like that or even sooner. Érd is hammered now and that looks to be roughly within 25 km south of Budapest.

If its a wet track, watch out for Vettel and Ham. Both know how to drive in the wets. Early shifting would be key here.

    Is this a serious question?

Bottas is probably the worst driver on the grid the moment there's moisture on the track. He got lapped in Turkey last year in a Mercedes.

I don’t remember mate. He is Finnish and they are good on rain/snow/dirt etc.

Max, Lewis, Stroll, Perez and Nando are probably the best drivers out there in the rain

Bottas takes out both Red Bulls. Talk about a number 2 driver making sure Ham has ZERO competition. What a joke. Race ban

Fanboys at sky worrying if RedBull is allowed to repair Max’s car during the red flag. What a joke…only Hamilton is allowed repairs right?
