The cars are so heavy now it takes multiple guys to use the old style jacks to lift the back of the car up.

Everyone else seems to be doing alright on them. My guess is that we're running a different program in this session.

I don't know of any other racing series that use tyre blankets in this day and age. Indy car don't warm the tyres at all and in WEC/Sports car racing they use ovens to keep the tyres in.

They were running that green aero paint on the rear wing on the soft runs and we know from Canada that the Friday engine is massively tuned down as well.

The medium runs make me feel rather calm about it.

Yes I don't think there's anything to be too concerned about ATM.

4 factors are important for Ferrari this season
    1.Engine reliability
    2.Board desicions and strategy
    3.Tyre degradation
    4.Driver Mistakes
When these things are ok Ferrari wins...
I also expect just for one time to use Cainz in order to help Charles...

Lec made the best S2 on mediums. Because on his soft tire lap he only managed a better S3.

The soft tyres were apparently equivalent to the hards in a previous race (Canada, I think) which may explain Charles not setting PBs, also cooler temps. Not happy to see HAM up in P2, though. It's only FP2, and hopefully not wet for quali or race.

There's a diagonal rain system of modest showers between Exeter and Lincoln with possible extensions to Plymouth and Hull that will go west of the circuit until most of it has cleared out in the afternoon. This weather system will pass over Northamptonshire on its way to obsolescence. So drizzle looks probable, but then again in Northern Europe these kind of showers are often split up in multiple portions with gaps in between due to lower convection than in subtropical climates.

Rain is less likely but possible as drizzle on Sunday. It doesn't look like a sustained rain front is passing over England that day but it's much more split up and lighter amounts if happening.

If Mercedes’ suddenly have pace and have a real chance at a podium or win (no RedBull and Ferrari DNF freebies), I will smash every tv in my house and won’t watch another race this year.

Northamptonshire Police are saying intel is pointing to protestors storming the Grand Prix on Sunday. These protestors want to boycott the Grand Prix.

Local police is beefing up security around the track.

which is why the old naming was better of softs, mediums, hards, supersofts, ultrasofts and hypersofts. The different colors looked great too.

Probably an "antifa" group. This group hates anything and everything capitalistic and government. They want to dismantle everything...... and yet......local police does nothing to them.... at least here in the Oregon area.

Looks like it could be Xtension Rebellion although that's pure speculation on my part. I don't know if they've disrupted events before?

The formula is easy to get Charles back in the game, firstly no engine issues for either driver, secondly any one else other than max to win the race and finally Charles must finish in front of max no if and no buts.Sainz looking strong so a 1 and 2 in any order would be perfect with merc filling in the podium position again 3rd and 4th would be the icing on the cake we can live in hope, we are due for our share of good fortune.

#AMus reports that the Mercedes engineers predict a Ferrari front-row. In the longrun it looks close between Ferrari, RB & Mercedes. Ferrari looked consistent, Mercedes struggles in S1, while Red Bull in S3. RB are the fastest on the straights but Ferrari is just 4 km/h behind.

Mercedes engineers: "If we take the fuel level & the power mode into account, Ferrari is half a second faster than us [one lap]. But Lewis on the mediums and George on the hard tyres are on a par with Ferrari in the longrun."

Mercedes engineer say that the softs are not a race tyre. Pirelli has pumped them up to record levels of 26 PSI at the front & 23 PSI at the rear. Teams fear punctures & prefer to choose the two harder compounds for safety reasons.
