Ferrari: @berrageiz confirms that the team is bringing some new features to the SF-24 diffuser. They're going to test this today.

This is important. People always goes on about sidepods but they are pretty irrelevant.

Hopefully it will work as intended and give us another step forward.

    Aerodynamic map

    image-30.jpg

Yesterday's data relating to the Dutch had moved higher, to intersect the high efficiency axis. Norris and Ricciardo moved further down the line into high drag . It is no coincidence that last year one of McLaren 's main problems was its high resistance to progress. Leclerc only raced in the morning on a slower track. Perez 's data leads the RB20 to seem very " low drag ", partly true but above all very efficient.

Hamilton with the W15 is very central within the graph. A car still to be fully understood . the Brackely team has not yet identified the operational window. Lewis struggled a lot with the rear which was light especially when turning in. Furthermore, there was no lack of checks during the exit phase, as if the single-seater was unable to put the power to the ground.

    Micro Sectors Chart

    image-31.jpg

We also introduce an updated micro sectors chart, where we take into account different drivers. Overall, we note the high speed of the Red Bull on the main straight, but also the excellent ability to brake with straight wheels of the SF-24 . Car from Modena that dominates the first stretch thanks to its excellent traction. Even the braking of 04, 11 and 14 are red territory.

In the snake , a complex of turns 5-6-7, Ferrari doesn't disappoint at all, but the RB20 is better in the change of direction between turns 6 and 7. As we said at the beginning of the article, the SF-24 behaved much better even in turns 9 and 10. However, the absence of Verstappen who manages to express a lot of potential in that section compared to his teammate was made without further notice.

Ultimately, the guided sections of curve 11-12-13, where green micro sectors appear. Since it obviously confirms the fact that the Aston Martin AMR-24 inherited a high vertical load from its parent single-seater.

W15 remind me of SF23 last year the rear can snap at any moment and look like they struggle a lot , this is not just sandbagging .

He's being doing that for quite awhile.

He does the same thing in iRacing as well.

And Charles is now doing 1:36s in his 2nd stint. Hopefully it's a proper race sim and there will be 3rd as well. That would be epic!

EDIT: There is a 3rd stint! Holy hell we look fast!

I'm watching live timing. First 2 lap times on his 3rd stint on C2 tyre was 1:34.8

So far our race sims are waaaay faster than anybody elses, including Red Bull. Don't know if we are doing something different, or we're really the fastest, but I don't care... It makes me happy.

This level of consistency is impossible in an actual race though, right? Surely the tyres will give way. There must be some trickery being done with engine mapping or level of pushing, surely? Same goes for our long runs as well.

In clean air it's absolutely possible, and looking at the times from Sainz, he was very consistent.
It looks like the car can easily handle stints of +20 laps, which opens up all kinds of strategies.
We don't know if they are being conservative, managing the tires (Verstappen also) but it looks very promising.

Regarding Verstappen's 11 laps that seemed indential,
there's probably only one driver that I've seen who could do the same, Schumi.

Even the F1-75 didn't look this good during the testing. Very impressed and happy with the SF24.

The RedBull looks more planted than the Ferrari, so they probably have the edge.
But the more you look at the Ferrari, the better it gets.
One lap pace, race pace, tire management, no overheating, the whole package looks good.
Day 1 we had some braking and balance issues. On day 3 it's a fast, solid car.

That's a ~1.3 second drop off in the first stint though on C3, which is not great. the other stints were good though.

I think next week we will only use C3 for qualifying or safety car gamble so not a big deal for us

Everyone had this problem on the C3. That's fine, the race tires will be the C1 and C2.
    The undercut will be important.
