Mercedes with turned down engine don't look anything special. Ferrari turned up the wick a bit but still had more in hand, compared to Haas, which was purple in every mini-sectors on the straight.

Charles also had more time in hand. His first timed lap was a bit scruffy, struggled a bit after turn 2. But lap 2 was much matter, but tyres were already out of their best performance window.

Why is Leclerc so much slower in S1 when compared to Sainz ? Still playing with Engine modes or making mistakes in turn1-2?

Engine mode i think . Hamilton is also 6km/h slower than last session IIRC . Quali is gonna be very close . RB20 is definitely has problem

Don't buy too much into "Red Bull haven't turned up the engine yet". They have not turned it up to the max sure, but they weren't running in turtle mode either.

Yes i see RB20 has problem too . Not only RB but us and Merc also don't running at the fullest just yet

Mercedes probably had to heighten their cars as it was touching the asphalt a lot yesterday.

Sky mentioned some team personel at Merc said theit car was set too much to quali yesterday so great on 1 lap but long runs suffered so they had to dial 1 lap pace back for better race pace. Would think many teams have the same compromises to make. If this is that sensitive a lower team might pull quitr a surprise in quali for the over night headlines then suffer in the race. We'll know in a few hours but it's very exciting right now.
