I don't think you realize the criteria for an F1 driver at 40yo and older to win a title, let alone a race:

    1) You need a dominant car
    2) You need a very very good team
    3) You need a race where the top teams have attrition during a race like Stroll podiumed in 2017 or Gasly winning a race.

Mansell won a race in Australia in 1994 because the FW16 was the successor to the FW15 which was the successor to the FW14....all designed by Adrian Newey.
and plus, you cannot compare today's cars which generate a lot of downforce and G-forces that was unheard of in the 50's, which is a lot harder for a driver in his 40's nowadays to cope with all that, his physical fittness has to be TOP NOTCH....
NOT many drivers can do that nowadays, cope with all the physical demands teh cars ask for nowadays....
Alonso is pretty special, but even he looked quite spent and winded after races last year and the year before

    Yep.

I also forgot to mention that the 40+yo F1 driver has a younger teammate that he has to beat in this current F1.
It's not how start but how you finish.

Yep. I saw a 2025 photo of Alonso working out his neck muscles. He looked "hulk-ish" with regards to his neck area.

Drivers under 40 need the same.....

IF we have the dominant car there is no doubt Lewis will win races with it, deluded if you think otherwise.

Over 40 and beating his team mate, almost as if age is not the barrier for talent.....

i hardly consider Stroll anything to write home about.....lol
A 40+ year old Alonso has it way to easy beating a Stoller....now if it was a Max, Charles, Sainz....or even a wahsed out Lewis, i betcha my bottom dollar, that even a fit Alonso would have a hard time beating any of those drivers.....even a Lewis....just saying

you tend to keep forgetting taht Stroller is in F1 because of his DADDY's deep pockets....endo of story
So the SF-24 has been a decent car. Lets hope that the totally redesigned from the ground up SF-25 contender will be a beast that will give us tifosi something to smile about.

IF is the big word and that's IF he beats his team-mate. Leclerc will blow Hamilton away.

i 1000% agree with your statement; Greig on the other hand lives in a fairy tale movie and thinks that Lewis will give Charles a run for his money....in his wildest dreams maybe....LOL

i didn't say that. I said that even a talented driver Alonso is (and i rate him really high), would have a hard time beating teh likes of Charles, Max, Sainz.....etc in a very competitive car.....Alo and any of those other drivers driving the SAME identical car.

believe it or not, AGE puts a big toll on your body and is hard to compete with these youngsters

I just said he might be right. The chance that Lewis beats Charles is very small... IMHO

Charles should come out on top but I don't think Lewis is going to be a walkover.

I read with interest the opinions posted here. What I would say is that since the 90s only Mansell & Prost won a WDC when they were approaching 40. Lewis is 40.
Since then the WDC has been won by younger men-- Villeneuve, Hill (just), Schumacher, Alonso, Raikkonen, Hamilton, Button, Vettel.
All of which ended their F1 careers in mid field teams exception being Lewis!!!!
If Lewis manages another championship it will be one for the record books. Somehow I think Charles will have something to say about that but it could be a very close fight..............if the car is on song,

I believe drivers age is around 10 yrs younger in phys. shape than the average male @ 40. As far as Lewis getting his 8th it's more up to Ferrari giving him the best car they can. Lewis is physically up to it. The Ferrari car has been on HOLD far too long . Late last season showed great improvement . Let's hope it continues to serve our two great drivers.

that is the magic ingredient that the drivers need.

Last year when the mercedes did have a good race lewis was toe to toe with Charles and others.there is a lot going on at ferrari at the moment we are not privileged to those going ons but if ferrari come out of the box fast then expect a very fast Hamilton.Sure he is 40 but not your regular 40 supremely fit and probably 10years younger metabolic.y Its going to be a 2025 to remember I can feel it in my bones.
