I think a lot of us are concentrating on McLaren, Merc and RedBull, and rightly so. But we always overlook Aston Martin. I think they will be there in the mix at the beginning. Just hope Ferrari maximize their points total every race.

I think they will be in the mix 2026 onwards, but they have Stroll and Alonso who is old and passed it if we apply the age theory many say about Lewis.

The first day of Pirelli's 2026 tyre test is complete, with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc in a modified SF-24 joining Lando Norris in the mule MCL60.

    1. Norris (1m15.21 seconds) - 159 laps
    2. Hamilton (1m15.93 seconds) - 87 laps
    3. Leclerc (1m16.06 seconds) - 86 laps

Was Charles driving the SF23 to make up for time lost last Wednesday (due to Lewis crash)
or did he have to use SF24 for the tyre test?

They both used a modified SF24.

Charles never lost anytime, the SF23 is not a meaningful test.

Tires go from what they are currently(2025):

    305mm(front) and 405mm(rear)

    to 2026 configurations:

    275mm(front) and 375mm(rear)

Lewis's "modified" SF-24 for the Pirelli tire tests at Circuit de Catalunya for the 2026 thinner tires had a Monza style rear wing and Las Vegas style front wing.

2026 cars will lose close to 30% downforce compared to current F1 cars.

nice that Ferrari is trying to test and replicate the downforce levels the cars will have in 2026....collect some valuable data that could be used when designing the 2026 single seater.
So the SF-24 has been a decent car. Lets hope that the totally redesigned from the ground up SF-25 contender will be beast that will give us tifosi something to smile about.

So from 2026 , we will have more of a point and shoot car and less of a flooring the gas through corner car ? If so I guess dirty air will affect less then .

Yep. Good data analysis. Mclaren and Alpine are in the same boat.

These F1 drivers are going to have to up their talent with less downforce and thinner tires in 2026.

That's a possibility. We'll have to wait and see how dirty air will affect the car following.

we already do if you look at our performance on tracks with slow corners and long straights, like Monza and Vegas
