The longer people keep talking about flexing wings the more they ignore the real issue which is McLaren being the only team to magically keep their tyres in an optimum window for the whole laps regardless of tyre wear. When is someone going to speak up?

Very close between us and other teams in SQ2

McLaren have at least another 2-3 tenths in their pocket

Lewis was mighty. He would've been on pole, regardless of Norris.

Charles needs to improve, otherwise he's going to suffer a rude awakening this year.

Leclerc stuggling a little bit today

But our car and Red Bull had no bussiness being in the top 3

The fact that both Hamilton and Max put those car there is a statement about their talent

McLaren is on another planet in the first sector. S3, we are in the same ballpark as them.

He's always been quick around Shanghai. Put in a killer second sector, bodes well for his confidence and for the team. Didn't expect him to do it in his second race alone but it's Hamilton. Just hope leclerc gets over his good boy persona and starts to drive like he's about to lose his seat.

Was that just on the softs? On the mediums they were consistently finding 4 tenths on the rest in S3.

Zero points given but nice feel good factor for the rest of the day. I expect McLaren will take the most points over this weekend and proper quali and race will be different assuming no reliability issues or crashes. Little suprised LeClerc was 2 tenths off Hamilton expected other way round but was similar with Sainz last year for 1st 4 or 5 races. If Ferrari can win it doesnt matter which driver.

Anyway fair play to Hamilton there, his experience showed. You can’t overdrive Shanghai or be on the edge, very controlled.

Don’t get the over reaction to Charles performance.

In SQ1 we were the fastest car in S3, in SQ2 and 3 we were evenly matched

But McLaren had the march over everyone in the first sector. Alex Bundle said on F1TV that both McLaren's were running extremely low in the first sector.

Very happy with the pole but Max being there again really worries me for the rest of the season. I know he's talented but even he needs a capable car to be in the top 5 (see where he was the second half of 2024).

Both McLaren drivers are bottlers. They made a huge mistake in the last race and Norris was lucky enough to finish in P1. Today he chocked again.

With pressure, McLaren drivers will make mistake. Last year, they had the fastest car from Miami onwards but needed the last race to seal the deal and only finished ahead of Ferrari by 13 points.

That indeed is impressive. Add to that Ferrari poled it in the F1A too!

Okie doke. I’ll go back and watch it as I’m not sure what the timing screens were showing my end then as I kept seeing close numbers for the first two sectors and then a massive -400/500 by the time McLaren crossed the finish line.

It does still raise questions on *** last week was all about and why they had to cripple the performance.

Lewis has arrived at Ferrari in style. That’s good to see.

Leclerc always struggles in first part of the season to get hold of the car. Then he will have a strong 2nd half, that’s the trend I see from him. Hopefully he improves his quali performance asap.

McLaren with fastest car couldn’t make it count once again. These drivers are immature with fastest car.

One observation, McLaren are the only one’s who did 2nd run on Softs. Rest all of them did 1Lap on Softs in SQ3.
