The car looked well balanced despite Charles concerns in FP1 and prior to the practice he seemed to have little optimism so wonder what’s changed or the others are hiding something. Either way it was nice to see us up there on a Friday.

Stroll got a 1 place penalty for being a clown. Should have been more.

Bearman 10 place for passing when red flag.

For some reason we have always been competitive in Monaco these last few years. Let's hope we can translate our good form into pole position tomorrow.

Monaco is unique, it's all about riding the bumps well and being compliant over the kerbs. That is why I didn't write us off even before the FP1 had begun, and not that surprised with your session topping pace of today.

Running the floor as low as possible is not required here. Ground effect cars normal run with stiff suspension setup, but here it's all about softening the suspension and riding those bumps and kerbs well. It's a unique track that requires a unique setup.

But you don't believe we have had to raise the car?

so because the other teams raised the car to our level, it's more equal.

that would mean i was right all along?

do I have to pull up the thread where you said I made up the ride height thing?

yeah some drivers just show up to Monaco and are always quick no matter what they're driving...

Ferrari: @Fred__18's technical analysis of the SF-25's handling during the first day of free practice in Monaco.

    - The SF-25 was able to take to the track without making any particular compromises on the setup: the track requires settings dedicated solely to slow corners, and above all, anything related to ground clearance is no more penalizing here than on its competitors, as it's the track with the lowest average speed in the championship. The one with the shortest race mileage and the lowest fuel consumption.

    - All this translates into an almost total absence of board wear issues, thus eliminating the need to raise the car above normal, while all the competition is forced to increase ground clearance due to the manhole covers and bumps on the track, which puts everyone on a more or less equal footing.

    - Overall, the SF-25 seems to be progressing in the right direction between sessions, with good balance and, above all, a rear axle capable of delivering power to the ground, demonstrating a level of traction never before achieved this year.

    - But this is also due to an engine setup that, according to the data, seems a little more generous than that of its rivals (perhaps to verify that such levels of torque were possible). However, the Ferrari's traction capacity is worth highlighting, as it confirms the adoption of a significantly softer rear set-up than what we've seen so far, and performance can only be positively impacted.

Charles has zero expectations ferrari are capable of going from the penthouse to the basement in a blink of an eye with no apparent explanations, it depends on when the Diva hidden within the ferrari decides to surface something like a ghost that he or the team have no controll over hence the sit on the fence approach. Failure is already programmed in the ferrari so any thing above that line say top 3 is a huge win.

I do believe we had to raise the car in Australia, as stated by Charle, but I don't think we had to raise the floor everywhere.

I also speculated that, there was something fundamentally wrong with the car, but I'm not an expert nor I ever pretended to be one, so I didn't know exactly what was wrong with it. Now, the media is speculating that the problem is the rear suspension. But that's just speculation, cause Ferrari didn't admit it, not I was expecting them to be.

BTW, everyone, including Ferrari, had to raise the floor here. Also, cars behave differently under different aero configuration. Ferrari may be struggling in low-speed corners with low/medium DF setup, but that may not be the case when the car is running with maximum downforce.

Monaco and Mexico are only two tracks where maximum DF is required. No where else it would work.

From what I've seen so far, Ferrari looked good, but we also ran a higher engine mode. McLaren and particularly Max, were running a detuned engine. Mercedes is always a mystery, hard to read into their run plans.

FP3 will give us a clearer picture.

If Charles gets pole, he is not losing P1 , so I am guessing it would be Charles, Lewis, and Piastri.

Probably that's why f1s official qualy prediction is this

But we've seen multiple times this to be wrong.

Hopefully, the gearbox is intact and without any damage. It was quite a heavy crash.

Charles is simply a monster around here. This is a track where the driver can truly make a difference, and he excels in that regard.
