Gearboxes have to be used for 5 consecutive races. That means both maccas can have new one at the last race.

Lol. just realised i typed tsunami instead of typhoon, BIG difference! Sorry.

Apparently the rainy season has hit Japan hard this year. It is being reported that a big Typhoon passed by Japan this weekend and there's no telling when the bad weather will stop but they're saying the grand-prix weekend should be fine.

Suzuka should go well for us but so is for Mclaren, RB & even Lotus. Couple of tenths is all it takes from front row to 3rd row. Alonso will target Vettel (his closest rival), like he does every weekend. Felipe can play a vital role in taking points off from few competitors. I will be happy with a Podium finish, victory will be a bonus.

From what I understand, the last typhoon hit Suzuka among other part of Japan before it disperse, causing some flooding in the process.

According to weather.com, it looks like there may be another one forming north of Guam. I hope it doesn't happen because it would be very bad if a typhoon hits Sukuza during the weekend.

Hope not below 3rd if SV God forbid wins. I am somehow hoping for a win this weekend, coz, by my math that one with just podiums to the end of the seasn will be enough for FA to win WDC!

Just saw all the above comments in this thread, most of them are expecting a problem for our rivals, but thats not the way ferrari wins title..
Hope Alonso wins the WDC based on his performance and not on others DNF and problems...
Otherwise the other sites will name Alonso title as a gift because of Redbulls and Mclarens UnReliability..

Even if he does win the WDC because of other's reliability problems its still a well deserved win. F1 is not just the driver, its the car as well and reliability is part of the package. In years gone past reliability often decided the outcome of the championship.

Still remember 2006 and Suzuka with MS retirement... That cost him title that year.

Exactly and Felipe also retired the Aus race due to engine problems in 2008. One can argue that also cost him the WDC.

Reliability is part of the sport and F1 cars should always push right to the edge of failure.

Fernando had 2 retirements in 2006 as far as i remember- Monza and Hungary? So thats no argument. In the end such things tend to even out. Unless you have such a superior car as Vettel in the last 2 years or Brawn in 2009.

Australia was his own fault though, he lost a load of points at Hungary as well when Alonso was out by breaking the car defending too much, and also a lot of points gone for parking at Rascasse.

No he drove off the track by making a mistake, who can blame him for cheating at Monaco? still people defend that LOL. He got beat by Massa and Alonso in Turkey. We can go on all day but the fact is Alonso had his problems as well but for Michael he made one too many mistake in 2006 and had he not cheated at Monaco then the Suzuka engine problem would not have been such a big problem.

Kept his foot in while on the grass, hit a bump and lost the car. A mistake, but let's argue all day about how MS never ever at all made a mistake.

Drinking AND smoking is the only way to get through the tension, you can add biting the nails as well, old habits die hard when you're a tifoso!
