    '12 Season round-up

If Fernando finishes 1st and Vettel finishes 4th in Brazil, they will both be tied for the championship. The rules state that whoever has the higher number of superior race results will be the victor.

    Australia - Vettel
    Malaysia - Fernando
    China - Vettel
    Bahrain - Vettel
    Spain - Fernando
    Monaco - Fernando
    Canada - Vettel
    Valencia - Fernando
    England - Fernando
    Germany - Fernando
    Hungary - Vettel
    Belgium - Vettel
    Italy - Fernando
    Singapore - Vettel
    Japan - Vettel
    Korea - Vettel
    India - Vettel
    Abu Dhabi - Fernando
    United States - Vettel

If that's the case, Vettel wins 11 to 8. If Fernando finishes 1st, then Vettel must finish 5th or lower for Fernando to be considered the victor.

Number of superior race results doesnt count. It is the number of victories. Nevertheless Vettel would be having more (5) than Fernando (4)

If two or more constructors or drivers finish the season with the same number of points, the
higher place in the Championship (in either case) shall be awarded to :
    a) The holder of the greatest number of first places.
    b) If the number of first places is the same, the holder of the greatest number of second
    places.
    c) If the number of second places is the same, the holder of the greatest number of third
places and so on until a winner emerges.
    d) If this procedure fails to produce a result, the FIA will nominate the winner according to
such criteria as it thinks fit.

In 2010 Vettel was 15 points behind Fernando going to the last race and he managed to win. So anything is possible. Don't forget 2007.

This championship has been an exercise in hope, optimism and resilience for all Ferrari fans around the world, and I admire your endurance and positive outlook. Personally, I hit reality yesterday, and am now convinced not only that Vettel will win the WDC, but that the real moral contenders of this championship should always have been him and Lewis.

A car which arrives to the final two stages of the championship with more than a second in lap time gap from the front does not deserve to win the world championship.

And, judging by what we saw yesterday, and how Felipe sacrificed his position to help Fernando, what I wish now is for Felipe to win in Brazil.

As much as it hurts this is the truth. However, winning WDC for Alonso will be a most deserved victory, given all the efforts and dedication and his fighting spirit. So, even if Seb DNF, it is going to be a DESERVED victory for Nando, not for the team, though.

And, judging by what we saw yesterday, and how Felipe sacrificed his position to help Fernando, what I wish now is for Felipe to win in Brazil.

Vettel's alternator or a first lap crash are the only ones stopping him from taking the WDC. Ferrari might be 1-2 and Hamilton might even be 3rd but Vettel will finish in top 4 if he finishes..

Boy I'm glad Ferrari doesn't give up just because we don't have the fastest car.

Ferrari will do anything in Brazil to win the title, and I'm proud of that approach. There's no such thing as moral contenders.

Those who have come into Formula One without experiencing cars devoid of electronic aids will find it tough. To control 800 horsepower relying just on arm muscles and foot sensitivity can turn out to be a dangerous exercise. Michael Schumacher

I was on the same wavelength before yesterday's race. Now I know that "not giving up" is equating to "hoping for a Red Bull DNF".

We're all hoping that Vettel will stop in Brazil, that's all we're hoping for.

Guys, this Vettel DNF is way overdue.......I don't see it coming......we need help from other drivers and rain to do a miracle.....
If Vettel finishes, be damn sure he'll be in top 5.......sector 2 alone will give him so much advantage......
and we have to come up with a good setup......that mule F2012 has to be fast. Sectors 1 & 3 should favor us, if the car is setup correctly.....

    Agreed.

Vettel started at the back of the grid in Abu Dhabi and still managed to be on the podium.

I'm afraid that Fernando will only have a chance if, and only if, Vettel DNFs. That's why I lost hope, because I don't switch my TV and hope that the other cars will stop - what sort of sport is that ??

Are you saying that Ferrari did something wrong with that decision? If you are trying to say that, then I think you're completely wrong. I must admit that I didn't feel right about it at first either, but looking back at this decision, I now think that it was an absolutely brilliant decision! It worked perfectly. Without that decision finger boy could've been WC already right now. That decision showed that Ferrari has great resolve and the ability to think outside the box. And I don't think anyone can call Mr. Domenicali as "spineless" and "without a character" anymore. Decisions like that have to be made sometimes, for the good of the team. F1 is a ruthless world, where you need to make ruthless decisions.
I felt bad for Felipe, but it all worked out well in the end, so what's there to complain about?

Unfortunatly, DNFs are part of racing and if a DNF is what Alonso need in Brazil then so be it. ITS RACING! In the Texas heat Webber's alternator got cooked, it couls as easly been Vettel's car. For Brazil, I think the car has to be setup for top end speed, and hope Alonso can manhadle the car in the corners, the Red Fools are not the fastest cars in a straight line. So set up the car for low down force and hope for the best in the straights, we may have to sacrafice qualy but so be it, points are given on race day not qualy. Still hoping for an Alonso miracle in Brazil, traditionally Ferrari has been very good in Brazil.

This reminds me of those days back in 2005-06 when FA and Renault were our chief rivals and we kept on praying for "overdue" FA DNF's which never came
