The EXACT one. Not just same set, it has to be the same tyre.

    Incorrect.
You must start the race on the same set of tires that you set your time. No Change (to fresher tires) is allowed.

Qualifying really isn't Alonso's cup of tea. *smh*

Happy with 3rd and 4th place but quite honestly I was expecting more from Alonso, especially after seeing in what great shape he was before Q3. Pole position was definitely within our reach today, but oh well. Hopefully it will be a great race for us tomorrow.

At the start of the race the cars that took part in Q3 must be fitted with the tyres the driver used to set his grid time.

    Looking good.
Lotus car that was most likely to trouble us because of good tyre management starts behind us in 8th.
Mercedes will eat the rear tyre out soon after the start.
Red Bull pace not as good as ours,on same strategy.[Have a feeling they will try something different like in china]

Red Bull are planning for 3-stop strategy withe the first stint on Medium and then 3 stints on 3 new sets of hard tyres
while we have only 2 new sets of hard tyres left and could try a 2-stop strategy

Alonso will start on the tires he used to set his Q3 time, Used Mediums.
When they were used or how much they were used we don't know
In Q3 he set his fastest time on the Hard tyres. Maybe you meant Q2?

i doubt it. i always see fresh rubbers during the start.
    it is only compound strict.
thats why numbers of sets of tires for qualifying will be carried over to the race.
it will be flaw in the rule if you have to use the used compound at the start when you have a fresh set of the said compound

In the end, P2 was definitley possible, but, P3 is better to start than P2.. don't know about strategy... will dependent on where we are at which time in the race..

I dont think we had the chance to get pole, the maximum Alonso could have done with a clean lap was 2nd and would have had to start from the dirty side

I'm pretty sure you have to start the race with the exact same set of tires on which you set your fastest time in qualifying. It has been the case for some time now.

Yes, I think we were faster than Red Bull today. A tenth down from Vettel on used tyres, 5 minutes before Vettel's time.

my understanding is the same compound used. not the exact tires. i haven't seen used tires at the start of a race. scrubbed ones but not used.

radio to rosberg: look after the tires. this is a race set.
it would be unnecessary to say it on the radio if it is the usual practice.
they are saying it over the radio because rosberg doesn't have an extra set of mediums for the race.

If its the used mediums then it doesn't look good for Fernando. Big gamble by team. Maybe Felipe can compensate for this.

Good quali, but if Fernando is starting on used tyres, his race is going to be compromised, he need to fly low with the hard like he has done all this weekend. Massa looks good with a different strategy.

Are they? I dont think so
If alonso manged to do 1.32.6 on used set of tyres he would have been flying on the new one, and it was not only that mistake in S3 that made him slower even his first sector was slower than on his first lap

With a little more thinking, it would be idiotic to have used medium for the Q3 from the moment that in Q1 we used 1 set of hard tyres and in Q2 1 set of mediums. They must have been new medium tyres as we had 1 spare set of new mediums and the strategy for Fernando is pretty clear i think.

At least Felipe is on a good strategy, nice thinking from him.

I think we have a very good shot at pole in Spain as well. Alonso will go into "crazy mode" there for sure and with loads of updates coming for Spain, pole position is definitely the target for Fernando.

We definilty don't need to start on the tyres with the flat spot, but Fernando said that they maybe needed to use these tyres during the race.. so first stint on the first meds from Q3, than 2 times hard and than perhaps the last mediums.. we will have to see how the race works out.. if we need to save tyres constantly that's not good for us, we need to "push" and control tyres like china.. so there is the possibility that we use the mediums with the flat spot for a few laps if necessary..

Yup, I agree but interestingly Damon Hill seemed to think that Felipe is on a wrong strategy.

I personally think that Felipe has the best strategy of all the drivers. If everything goes according to plan then Felipe definitely could finish on a very good position.

I don't know really. In Australia and China this strategy didn't work so well. What is so different here?

China was a three stopper. If they can make a 2 stopper work then it might be a good strategy for Felipe.

For it to work, you must be able to do 1 stop lesser than those around your.

If they are on 2 stop, that means you need to do 1 stop only!
