FIA confirms 19 races in 2014

The FIA has confirmed a 19-race calendar for 2014, with South Korea dropping off and provisional races in New Jersey and Mexico also missing.

The Korean Grand Prix will be absent following four years on the calendar, while both New Jersey and Mexico were set to be new additions when announced on a provisional 22-race schedule back in September. However, both have been postponed and the revised calendar - ratified at a meeting of the World Motor Sport Council in Paris - sees the season now end in Abu Dhabi.

    Full 2014 calendar:

    1. March 16 - Australia GP, Melbourne
    2. March 30 - Malaysia GP, Sepang
    3. April 6 - Bahrain GP, Sakhir
    4. April 20 - China GP, Shanghai
    5. May 11 - Spain GP, Barcelona
    6. May 25 - Monaco GP, Monaco
    7. June 8 - Canada GP, Montreal
    8. June 22 - Austria GP, Red Bull Ring
    9. July 6 - Britain GP, Silverstone
    10. July 20 - Germany GP, Hockenheim
    11. July 27 - Hungary GP, Hungaroring
    12. August 24 - Belgium GP, Spa-Francorchamps
    13. September 7 - Italy GP, Monza
    14. September 21 - Singapore GP, Marina Bay
    15. October 5- Japan GP, Suzuka
    16. October 12 - Russia, Sochi
    17. November 2 - USA, Circuit of the Americas
    18. November 9 - Brazil, Interlagos
    19. November 23 - Abu Dhabi, Yas Marina

Shame about New Jersey. Does look like an interesting track.

But I don't think it will ever happen. This has been going on for awhile now. My hopes of it happening are slim to nill.

And again. Looks like I'm going to the first race of the season.

I don't care that we haven't got Korea and India on the calander anymore, but happy with Austria. I don't how the Russian track will look like but I guess it is also a Tilke circuit?

It is a Tilke circuit, but it is a street circuit built around the 2014 Winter Olympic venue at The Sochi Olympic Park, so the layout has in some part beern determined by the layout of the venue, it has been likened to the Canadian GP circuit, actually it looks ok...

Looks nice. Would have been nice to have another US race, though.

I never expected it to really make it. That race will never happen.

When the idea first came out, they were talking about only allowing mass transit to the event. The easiest way would have been going around into NYC and taking the ferry back across the Hudson.

The GP in Texas was not very car friendly either. Parking was $200 for the three days but they provided bus service from downtown Austin. Only problem, the buses dropped you off about a mile and a half from the track. No paved walkway, so you had to trek in the dirt there and back. It was beyond stupid! Maybe this year was better. If we had gone this year, I would have paid the $200 for parking.

Who's "genius" idea was it to put Abu Dhabi back as the final race of the season??? What was wrong with Brazil? It was the perfect season ender, which has almost always provided all kinds of thrills and spills, but Abu Dhabi...pffff booooring.

And I'm sad to see India go, that was actually a pretty decent and interesting track. And it's also too bad that New Jersey and Mexico didn't make it.

98 days to go till the FP1 starts in Australia.

yup, which is gonna start earlier then usual this year....also we get to see the teams unveil the NEW cars....and don't forget we have some tire testing days in about 3 weeks or so....
So the SF-24 has been a decent car. Lets hope that the totally redesigned from the ground up SF-25 contender will be a beast that will give us tifosi something to smile about.

Abu Dhabi should be before or after the Singapore/Japan races for logistical reasons, presumably there's a reason for it to be at the end but it'll be a depressing finale if the championship is still open. And surely Russia will be getting cold in October? Doesn't make any sense from the cost/travel/carbon footprint angle either to have teams crossing back and forth between east and west so many times.

Didn't you know that it's going to be the first ever snow race in Russia? Pirelli will be bringing their special winter tyres for that race.

It will be difficult to get heat into these tyres

And the snow-chains. Maybe the Iceman will have an advantage?

Lucky escape for the British GP then with New Jersey not happening.
The wicked man threatened this would be the case back in Spain.
No doubt he will have another go next year.
