Was mentioned by the commentators on F1 TV about the timing.

RB did had pace on short stints in the past as well.

Real challenge for them is on full fuel load.

Lift and coast left and right. Just take a new engine and move on. It’s embarrassing

All the lift and coasting is taking the temperature out of the tyres.

Yup I heard on the radio, it’s not about tyres. He was told to do LICO.

It would have been better if they had taken engine penalty here & not much worry about LICO & It will be tight fight for WCC with such lift & co will not help drivers to fight till the end.

Charles: "Can I stop with this Lico?!"

Bryan: "We still need it for temps."

Take the penalty and move on. On this track, overtaking is possible. And with the possibility of rain, it’s a no brainer. Would also help for the last races. All this lift and coasting, they don’t even have the chance to use their tyre advantage.

Ferrari with the somewhat unusual choice of 2 combined cooling specs for the sprint (not just the classic asymmetric closure)

Charles Leclerc post sprint race team radio (P4):

"Yeah I pushed too much at the beginning, we speak about the Lico later."

Bryan: "Unfortunately we were hot on temps."

Charles: "Yeah but we speak about it later!"

It was not about LICO at all... Charles was sliding like crazy, making mistakes basically every lap. Either his tyres were overheating so much, that even LICO was not enough or he didn't have his day.

All through the season leclerc’s strategy to manage the tyres is to bring them slowly into the working range & build a tyre advantage.

What happened in this sprint is RB was so quick & he was forced not do that & straight away falling right behind McLaren RW. He was attacking lap after lap & at the same time he was asked to do Lico. It was tricky.

Leclerc confirms at @SkySportF1 a total change of settings on the car for tomorrow's race in Brazil. The dirty air and the exaggerated Lift and Coast have put the driver in great difficulty.

He also confirms overly aggressive settings but says he learned a lot for the next sessions.

Ferrari: Charles Leclerc's statements after the sprint race in Brazil via @formu1a__uno .

    - "The management of the Lift and Coast is difficult at the moment with our car, we saw it last weekend and in Austin we have to work on that. The race was difficult, I tried to put a lot of pressure on Lando at the beginning, but towards the end it was very complicated to drive the car because I didn't have the rear tyres anymore."

    - "A lot of mistakes were made because of the high degradation of the tyres, but it was my choice that was not the right one in the end. We lost a point compared to what we could have done, but we learned a lot for tomorrow. We will definitely make some set-up changes for the race."

    Happy for Charles!

However, it’s embarrassing the way the FIA is carrying itself to manufacture a McLaren/Norris championship. Happy to see all the social channels calling them out. Also, the majority of comments are against Norris for needing Piastri to move over to help him win.

Norris is not a worthy champion atleast for this season. With a strong car, he fumbled lot many times under pressure.
For me he’s nothing special or in the leagues of Max/Leclerc/Ham/Alonso.

It's raining at the track currently.

    Tomorrow is 80% chance....so a lottery race.

Because of our design. We have a relatively small turbo compared to Mercedes/Honda. It has certain advantages but also some caveat.

High altitude means air density is thinner. So we are struggling to generate optimal power through our small turbo. Which making the ICE to work harder than normal, causing it to overheat, hence the lift and coast

We also had cooling issues in last year's Brazilian GP

Yeah, already thinking of excuses when Max loses the championship (which seem highly unlikely). Come on man, Max needs to stop with the antics. They already had to change the rolling restart procedure after the safety car after the antics Max was pulling. He was multiple car lenghts away before the virtual safety car came up but was besides piastri's rear wheels on right before the restart. This could not have been a more clear cut penalty. Really sad that people are thinking this when it was Max that lucked out on his first championship.

Norris and Mclaren are not deserving of this championship for handling it the way they are now. Yeah Piastri is faster on some tracks but Norris has outperformed him overal and with 4 races left, a team that wants to win it should be putting everything on the driver with a slight chance. The were waiting for the last lap to swap position.. Such a dumb thing to do and it almost backfired. These teams work very hard to build a car to fight for the championship. Throwing that away to not bruise a drivers ego is stupid. The team is there to stay but these drivers come and go.

has this issue affected Sainz in Mexico? Mexico is of higher altitude than Brazil i believe. Or its just when you are on dirty air ?
