I believe Red Bull offered him a drive. He declined (perhaps knowing he was going to Ferrari?) Either way, I think it's fair to say he would have won a WDC.
Ross Brawn has said that he's sorry not to have worked with Alonso. He also offered him a drive in the year Brawn won the WDC for Jenson Button (Pause to think about this).

I don't think there's any doubt that FA would have won WDCs in the past if he'd made other decisions. Almost certainly at least two more.
As one of his fans I hope that he'll retire with at least a modest total of three and that wouldn't be an exaggeration of his talent.
To add to your lines,I honestly hope he ends his career with Ferrari, can't see him with another team, this team makes you
    Feel special!!

He has said several times that Ferrari will be his last team and I have no reason not to believe him.

What he wants is the only thing that is higher than being WDC.
That is being WDC in a Ferrari.
So no, I don't think he is wasting his time and I'm sure he would agree with me.
    Very well said!

Totally agreed ..the stats will never show what class Alonso has and all of his masterful drives!!
and the fact is he was the one who stopped Micheal's parade in 2004 and also took it in 2006!!
unfortunately it could have been 2010 also..
and this years WDC is totally within reach again and hope ferrari improve the car a little and rest if up to "GOD!"

I agree with a lot of people who are saying that no matter who wins, everyone knows who the best driver on the grid is, this season. The guy is just freaking amazing. What a drive. I feel optimistic about the coming 3 races. We are in with a shot.

Even Lewis is a fan of Alonso.

"I am a fan of Fernando's - I was a fan even before I got into Formula 1 - and I think this year he has driven so well. More so than anyone else.

"Sebastian has stepped up a lot at the end of the year with the improvements on his car. But Fernando is still pushing. Today he just drove phenomenally well and he's just holding on, still.

"For me, in my eyes, he really is a three or four times world champion."

He won WDCs in 2005 and 2006, not 2004 and 2006.

    God = Deity

Now while some may worship the ground Fernando walks on, I for one am finding this thread a little Over The Top and tasteless.

God + o = good and that is as far as I would go to God Like. As for his talents I would even use the word brilliant, but God like No

While I am a christian in my beliefs I do not take offence.

But surely there have to be much better superlatives that can be applied to Fernando ??.

I admire, respect and I am very grateful for all that he has done and brought to Ferrari.

So long live his abilities ( as long as they are used with a Ferrari

Id say, due to the tires rule in 05, that took the Ferrari's right out of the wdc..they couldnt complete a full race on those, so it was an unfair season asaic.

Next news, Alonso postponed Domenicali breakfast.

Yep, and that's the truth! Ferrari and Schumacher had absolutely no chance to fight for the WDC because of the **** Bridgestone tyres. The tyre war was clearly won by Michelin that year.

Could we please stop with these "Vettel to Ferrari" rumours? He obviously doesn't want to come, so I say let him rot in that Red Cow! We don't need him. His latest words about Ferrari have been very arrogant, like he's too good to be even considering to drive for Ferrari. That little punk! Let him be in that snake pit if he likes it so much. I wouldn't want to see that mentally insane Marko strolling around in Ferrari pits anyway.

Alonso in my opinion is one of the all time greats. Nobody else could extract the maximum performance out of the car as consistently as Fernando. Its a big shame that he hasnt had the machinery capable for a number of years of winning the world championship. Yes you might say 2010 he did, but the rb was still a much superior car. Alonso was only there at the end by being just a genius behind the wheel. I would say the last time he had the car capable of winning the title was back in 2007. If only he had come to us then!
