Yes, very interesting that Vettel did not get pole??? Could there be something, "A-Miss" with his car? The racing will be tough at the front but Vettel will have a more difficult time with very poor straightline speed and no where to really pass except on the straights.

    Ciao.

    Something bothers me though.

According to autosport, the stewards actually accepted Red Bull's explanation for why Vettel stopped on track. Hence we heard earlier that Vettel was smiling leaving the FIA office.

It was only when they check the car and found that the fuel is lesser than 1liter that they penalized Vettel. It was like what, 850ml?

In other words, had Red Bull stopped earlier and had that 1 litter of fuel, they would have successfully lied their way out of their cheating.

150ml is a very small amount, my guess was they were probably trying to give all sorts of reasons that all is well till the measurement came.

It will be very interesting to see how finger boy fares tomorrow. This is actually his chance to show what he's made of, not that I really care. LOL

I would've loved to have seen Helmut Marko's face when FIA finally announced that decision...PRICELESS!

''Finger Boy starts from the back so Alonso starts from P6, which is not on the clean side.''
Not much difference in left and right sides at that point of the track.
The racing line is in the middle !

We are trailing ~90points. WCC is a closed job.

Not sure, if we get a normal race I would say top 10 finish is still very likely for Vettel. It's up to Ferrari to pick up the big points tomorrow.

Whether you WIN on "Raw Speed" or by "Attrition", WINNING is the name of the game. Yes, lets hope Alonso and Massa have better Race Pace and capitalize on the situation.

    ciao.

I would love for fernando and ferrari to win this title, but ferrari should be third and fourth on grid today at least, not one sec off pole position. If they win it we will have same situation next year whole team worked perfect this year except car design part. That part has to change. If they win it this year, next year will be the same or worse.

Vettel will have a lot of "Dirty Air" to deal with which will not allow him to have such an easy time of it like when he is leading the race.

2012 Abu Dhabi GP: Qualifying Thread

I hope Maldonado does not cause mayhem at the start. Grosjean should watch his mirrors and dispose of Vettel when he comes up.

Keeping fingers crossed for Alonso to stay safe and deliver...

The car has to make it to Parce Ferme and still contain a litre of fuel...

Agreed. Mathematically it isn't over. They must have 4-5 DNF's for the last 3 races and Felipe and Fernando taking 1-2. Which is practical impossible. Let's focus on Fernando's WDC hopes

I agree, but at least the FIA scrutinizers caught them.

This is the opportunity we've been looking for. Let's make the most of it. AVANTI FER!!! AVANTI!!!

It will be really interesting to see what can Vettel do with such a slow car.
