F150 development gets underway with two hundred kilometres

Cheste, 1st February – The first day of testing for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro got off on the right foot at the Cheste circuit, near Valencia. Before the lunch break, Fernando Alonso completed just over two hundred kilometres at the wheel of the F150. Of course, it is far too early to draw any conclusions, but it’s a positive start that the car has run continuously, without any technical problems. Fernando concentrated especially on getting to know the car, on aerodynamic testing, which involved going down the main straight at a constant speed and, most importantly, on getting an increased understanding of the Pirelli tyres. This morning, the Spaniard’s best lap time was a 1.14.718, only bettered by Nico Hulkenberg who lapped in 1.13.938 at the wheel of the 2010 Force India.

Final red flag was caused by Fernando Alonso stopping out on track.

maybe FA havent pushing it too much yet. and remembering how last year's winter test glory didn't show too much of how it is on race season, we don't have to worry

On the whole, quite happy about the day on the test.

Alonso didn't go that much faster in the afternoon lot during that than he had done in the morning. But the track would have rubbered in a lot during that time. looks like he cant have been pushing extremely hard in the afternoon, while Vettel improved by a second, so who knows about his pace.

The 2010 cars are lighter, and i think at this stage faster then the 2011 ones, as all the fancy aero parts to recapture lost downforce havent been installed yet.

And on McLaren, not a bad idea to bring the Bridgestones, but a bad idea not to bring the new car. Wont surprise me if they have some issued regarding the Pirellis, KERS or ARW in Bahrain. Probably the main reason why Newey brought the RB7 Valencia, to make sure everything works okay.

And Renault's very smart invention surely havent given them that big a boost, as they were 2 seconds slower than us.

But i know that the times are almost meaningless, but good times.

it only testing, we cannt read into nothing of the times as yet. Its far to early to start my god they were whole second faster. It means nothing. Fernando and the team had programme to do and go through, not interested in going for that glory time.... yet.

First day of testing in Valencia2.1.2011

Circuit: Ricardo Tormo, Cheste – 4.005 km
    Driver: Fernando Alonso
    Car: Ferrari F150
Weather: air temperature 8/18 °C, track temperature 8/20 °C. Cloudy in the early morning then sunny.

Maranello, 1st February - First day of testing for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, as from today working alongside ten other teams at the Cheste circuit, outside Valencia.

Fernando Alonso gave the F150 its official track debut, after it had been launched last Friday in Maranello. The Spanish driver worked mainly on general car development and on gaining further understanding of the Pirelli tyres. By the end of the day, which was completed without any significant technical problems, Fernando had done a total of 98 laps, the quickest in a time of 1.14.553.

The Scuderia continues testing at this circuit tomorrow, again with Fernando Alonso on track.

May be testing, but I follow not just the times, but how theyre doing them...Vettel roamed around, no problems, set fastest time out of the box...sort
of F2004ish..Alonso did ok, and Im sure they had a program to follow, still, had a few problems and set an ok time. So I guess it was an ok day.
It is great everyone is back to action though.

Does anyone have any idea why this year teams have something odd on the rear wing? We have that V shave in the middle, RB have this bulb on it... I thought with the adjustable wing it was less important how much drag it had since the device will nullify it. Or is this something that will compensate the effect when someone will try to overtake? Or is this just the normal evolution?

    I'm confused...

    thanks

forgot to put the 6 cylinder though, since both of our legendary car 156 sharknose and gilles's 126 use that

The rims are part of homolgation, so can't be copied until next homolgation... which is next year

Homologation takes place every year...doesn't it?? And our rims were developed last year so that could have been copied this year..........and this year regulation is very specific about the surface area of the spokes of the rim....so how did ferrari manage to carry over the same wheel rims from last year????

I am a bit confused on this....plz shed some light on it.

I think as with our wings also rims are from last year. The final aero package will come later. Maybe even at the last test.
