Merc were helped by conditions. If we improved by the same as Rosberg, we would be 0.7 behind Rosberg.

The guys who went out earliest:
Hulkenburg and Rosberg improved by 2.1
    Button improved by 1.9

The guys who went out a few mintues later:
    Magnussen improved by 1.4
Ricciardo improved by 1.3, then found another 0.3 later
    Alonso improved by 1.3
    Raikkonen improved by 1.2
    Bianchi improved by 1.2
    Chilton improved by 1.6
    Perez improved by 1.5
    Kobayashi improved by 1.0
    Kvyat improved by 0.7

No matter how early we shift focus to the next years car.

We just don't build and design them like we used to. I'm looking forward to this season due to new rules and what not but honestly I love my team. But history has proven if we don't hit the ground running in front. We never really catch up.

I hope I'm wrong. But I've done that for the last few years and we've sucked. We are Ferrari. The epitome of car design and engine design. The oldest most respected team in F1. We should be in front. It's in our DNA.

This year we have the most important tool what we didn't have last year, working wind tunnel. With out that developing car during season is just
shooting to the dark, testing new parts only to see that they suck at track.

Then why do all the teams go through a long F1 season to determine the winner? Might as well just have one race, see who's fastest in that one race and then pack up and go home. It would be so simple, just see who's got the fastest car and then say "aaah, ok so they have the fastest car, so that must mean that they would win every other race and the championship, so there's really no point in going through a whole season." LOL

And you're wrong when you said "if we don't hit the ground running then we can't catch up"...there have been many occasions when some team hasn't had the best of starts to the season, but in the end have still managed to win the championships. So there is always hope and you never know what can happen.

Let's just get to the end of the race tomorrow. We have a lot of work to do and once we get the PU right we will be well placed to actually put up a fight.
The good thing is we are not the only ones with problems and with some luck perhaps those ahead of us have some attrition issues.

This is what happens when you take away the tricks of the car, Vettel can't drive without them.

An unknown issue with the engine ... according to team radio
Was not able to accelerate correctly. Team radio didn't sound very optimistic.
"If I was driving for Red Bull [from 2008] probably I would have more championships, but because they were dominating between 2010 and 2014 probably I would never have driven for Ferrari. I am very happy and very proud to drive for Ferrari, all my time there.
