I hope we don't see an all black Ferrari next year, if this weight saving trend continues the same way. Our car has now gotten more black every year. I don't mind the current black parts of the livery but for me this is definitely the maximum level of blackness that I can tolerate on a Ferrari F1 car. Hopefully next year Ferrari will find other ways to save weight than skimping on the beautiful red paint.
I am aware that this year car is designed by mathematicians , not by Pininfarina !
It is not pretty ,but i like it and if it becomes a winner i will forget all about the looks of the car! Maybe i will set its photo as desktop background!
For now i will use F10 !

Just like to say, i know RBR having bit of trouble atmo, is slightly funny. But please remember, it can/may still happen to us. So, the people laughing about their situation, will more than likely jump on here and bash the team for poor reliablity. No having ago at anyone, but please remember it can still happen to us.

Thank goodness for some reality, Rob! Yes it's going well, but we must be more that wary of our competitors at this early stage. Williams also look promising, hope it bodes well for you-know-who tomorrow!

Then for the sake of F1 they need to be kicked out,in 2 years they were not able to produce something near to what we would call an engine,as Montezemolo said,if they do not have the money for it they should change sport, well i add,if they are not able to compete with other constructors at the same level, without being helped all the time you should just leave.

Ferrari F1 will never be all black, but
The black paint has thermal functions
It is a particular polymer that has a very important feature: it is 10 times lighter than a normal painting and especially has a very high thermal conductivity (8 times higher than that of copper). We can understand then why Ferrari had chosen to paint with this polymer such a sensitive area : better heat evacuation, and a sensible weight reduction.

Right, but an oversteering car is not a bad car,as Coultard somewhere said"Often competitive F1 cars are more difficult to drive than slow ones because they are on the edge, and they can be twitchy or snappy",for example Hamilton loves snappy cars.As for the F2012 well quite easy to say it was slow,a dog of a car on the contrary the F138 was quite good.He is good at pointing fingers at other designers, but he himself was never a great one,he even resigned in 1998 when Mike Gascoyne joined Jordan because the car was a dog,and they had back then a consistent budget, maybe like Lotus Renault today.

Kimi: “Two positive days”
Circuit: Jerez circuit – 4.428 km
Driver: Kimi Raikkonen
Car: Ferrari F14 T
Weather: air temperature 9/14°C, track temperature 10/15 °C. Light rain in the morning, sunny and cloudy in the afternoon.
Laps/Kms completed: 47/208
Best time: 1:24.812
Second day of testing at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit for Kimi Raikkonen at the wheel of the F14 T.
Because of the wet start to the day, the morning programme began with the testing requested by Pirelli, relating to development of their wet weather tyres. The Scuderia was quickly able to assess the intermediate tyres, thus making the most of the time remaining and the progressively drying track to begin work on the car in preparation for the afternoon’s programme.
By the end of the day, Raikkonen had managed to complete a total of 47 laps, the fastest in a time of 1.24.812. He continued the task of checking the car’s functionality as well as trying a few set-up changes.
“Every time we go out on track we learn something new” – said Kimi to www.ferrari.com – “This week the times don’t matter and the only thing that does is to do a good number of laps without any problems and fortunately, we have managed that on both days. The team is working hard and at the next test in Bahrain, we will continue to improve.”
Testing continues at this circuit tomorrow, when Fernando Alonso will make his season debut on track.

Allison on Kimi: “Very strong, incredibly precise”
Jerez de la Frontera, 29 January –A good start with Kimi Raikkonen and James Allison on the same wavelength at the end of the second of four days of testing at the Jerez circuit in southern Spain.
“We have obtained some good baselines from which to continue the development of the F14 T,” said the Scuderia’s Technical Director, talking to www.ferrari.com. “We are working mainly on car reliability and so far, we can claim to be reasonably satisfied because, even though we are talking about a car that’s almost totally new, we haven’t encountered any particular problems. We are also happy with the data parameters we have seen in terms of cooling, as well as those relating to aerodynamic downforce: both of them have matched our expectations.”
Asked for an opinion on Kimi’s second debut in red, Allison had this to say. “He is still the same strong driver, with his usual phlegmatic approach,” added the Englishman with a smile. “It’s difficult for him to get over excited about something, but he gives the engineers the feedback they need to do their job. He might not say much, but he is incredibly accurate when it comes to explain what needs to be done to make the car quicker.”
Allison confessed to not having paid the slightest attention to what the other teams have been doing, therefore he is unable to give an opinion on how competitive the F14 T might be. “There’s too much to do to think about the others. We have to keep an eye on every detail, because it only takes the smallest thing to leave you stranded. Between now and Melbourne, we will have to organise every last detail to be ready for the first race.”

I hope not. What worries me a little is that I don't see anything on the car that impresses me at all. Our rear is tight but the RB10's is even tighter, let's not forget they are Renault F1's development team at the end of the day, so they have played a big part on the development of the engine and Renault made sure to suite Newey's needs. Mclaren have thought outside the box and have designed something new which make a lot sense aerodynamically. Us... I'm not sure yet.
Sincerely, this car does not excite me at all! Hope that my pessimism ends up in the bin when we arrive in Melbourne.

I read that Mr Newey has expressed his concerns over the safety of lower noses on the cars.
I think is coz he's Unable to come up with a nose design that will Dominate and so he comes up with this to help SV "gently" push cars off ( lol ) the fact that Torro Rosso have questioned the legality of the Lotus design . A 2 prong attack 1 on the legality of a rival team and under the disguise of concern of safety as a hole over All cars.

Last year after the first tests Gary Anderson said Mclaren was properly on top. He thought Red Bull might be behind and he never said anything about Lotus doing well. From what I ve seen his predictions haven't always been the most accurate.
As for Gary Anderson's perceptions about the car, it might be true but perhaps it should also be remembered that Kimi drives more with of an oversteering style.

We haven't done any set-up work, the track was green and low track temperatures mean tyres were cold. In these conditions I would expect everyone to struggle, and if other cars looked stable, it's because their drivers weren't trying hard enough.

When pushed on the exact cause of Red Bull's engine fire, Taffin insisted it was nothing to do with the design of the power unit, instead he hinted that Red Bull's car design may have been the cause. "No," he replied. "You may need to ask my colleagues at Red Bull [what caused that problem]. "It's the different intergration [between teams]," he added, suggesting Red Bull are packaging the unit differently to Toro Rosso and Caterham. It's believed Red Bull aren't providing enough cooling to certain areas of the power unit, particularly the energy recovery system. This could have caused the brief fire which curtailed their running. Red Bull have completed just 11 laps over two days, whilst Toro Rosso has done 15 (all on Tuesday) and Caterham 12 (all but one on Wednesday). - See more at: http://www.f1times.co.uk/news/display/08457#sthash.FcRCoM5P.dpuf

yes , it could be anything. i was reading that teams have problem with rear brakes cause of ''brake by wire'' system, and need to find right algorithms to find right balance between braking and ERS harvesting.

Gary Anderson says our car is similar to the last few - the rear gives up on braking and acceleration and that's not a good trait.
Hopefully he's talking as much rubbish as usual...
He cant rate our car,not just yet when we do not have our latest Aero updates which will planned for Bahrain test, there we will see how the F14T handles.
And we also dont know the fuel loads, carry heavy fuel would easily make a car look twitchy and oversteery
But its quite irritating to see that everybody blames Ferrari to be conservative, based on their inspection they probably feel that ToroRosso can build a better car than Ferrari.

And our aero its, at the moment, really fairly simple.
I wouldn't say so actually, Starting with our nose it looks quite developed and having seen the flow visualisation we could see how the air is 'rolling' off the nose and under, our sidepods looks to be very carefully desgined and the flow conditioners on top of the sidepods takes time to get right which I think we have. The RW looks complex maybe the most complex with all cutouts and strakes. The FW is where I could say it looks fairly simple compared to others. A area that I recently discovered was our diffuser particular the middle part that looks interesting I don't know if it brings any big gains but I guess it could create downforce with less drag if you apply the FW theory (more elements is better)
The spin looked strange, he had no grip at all and if you look closely I think he is locking up so my nominee for the cause is cold tyres. I haven't had a look at the new brake balance system but that could also been a factor.

That is fine for me
I can send a short video "Senna4Ever in rage" for application if I fit to your requirements.
Also I have customer in Milton Keynes (and it is not RB) ... so I could hide it as a business trip ;)
Back to business:
- personally I quiet happy with the reliability so far. Of course not that much Merc was able to do but still good for us
- I like the look of the car more and more the more pictures I see from track ...

Yeah, but that don't make the car fast. After reading that this car has the same rear-end problems as the previous two, I'm starting to have a bad feeling, like there's been no real progress. Sure, the wind-tunnel finally works, but how are we suppose to get poles and wins with poor traction, especially with a new engine that's giving out much more torque than the V8? The rear tires are going to be destroyed from wheel-spin.

I am really struggling to understand what forces you to think that... Today is just the third day of FIRST test and I believe that nobody is working on performance right now. Ferrari has started this test in a very positive way and James Allison also confirmed that data parameters matched their expectations in both cooling and aerodynamics departments. This sounds like a brilliant news for Ferrari.
Furthermore, I think that the comments from Gary Anderson should be taken with a big pinch of salt. It seems that it is very difficult to hear something positive about what Ferrari does from this man.

Hornet. the "power unit" needs to have a protection sheet, in case of turbo explosion. The thing is that the sheet weighs almost 4kg. Renault and Mercedes says that the sheet needs to be homologated as engine weigh, so the weigh needs to be raised, they send to the FIA one video of some sparks going of the turbo. Ferrari says that we have not anykind of problems with the turbo, so we didn't need to put anything in the engine (that makes our engine lighter). Also, the Ferrari engineers says that the engine vane already has somekind of protection (renault and mercedes put that protection sheet atached to the engine).
The FIA says that our system is legal, the thing is: are they going to change the weigh regulations to mercedes and renault? (renault use to cry a lot, so they get some gifts from the FIA, decongelations, diferent map regulations for them, etc)
Thanks. I was under the impression that the homologation process is later. Apparently not

its not an issue with the Renault engine it seems, cause the STR were able to do 17 laps without any issue.
The problem seems to be with cooling of the RB..
Anialonso, Renault has some problems cooling the car. Yesterday RB cut the body of the car to manage the high temperatures (use to be one of the problems of Newey's cars).
Maybe is just bad luck, but this morning the Caterham stoped 2 times.
Without a doubt, I'm glad that we aren't in their position.
Renault started to cry about the engines few months ago, obviously, they have some problems with the developing. Or maybe they try to go to the limit in some point and if they manage to solve it (or the FIA let him do whatever they want, they will have the best engine).
RB only make 8 laps this days, that's not a good sign for him.
RedPassion
30th January 2014, 11:36
Without issue? They're 23s off the pace.
The car shouldn't overheat like that after five corners...
I hope for them i am wrong but to me it looks like they went completely awry with the coolings, and this years cooling is very important

Is very normal has that problems in pre-season testing. All years happends. The electrical and electronic components use to fail in brand new cars. That's why there is a shakedown and instalation laps.
If it is the telemetry is not a big problem in comparation with engine/transmision problems.

Alonso attracts big crowds
Fernando Alonso is very popular in Spain, which results in a large crowd today. It is a shame for the Spanish fans that their favourite has not been driving since he stopped on track.
I must say all the problems of RB just trying to draw a big smile into my face
But old saying says: those who laugh last laugh best
So meanwhile the season ain't over I can only give my kudos to our engine guys ...

Annoying!" Red Bull's Helmut Marko told Bild newspaper.

Joke aside, is it really possible that Rb is having cooling issues at this temperature? If that is true, they will have to get double size radiators for races with temperatures over 30 degrees...
Hornet
30th January 2014, 12:46
I imagine if they increase the sidepods to fit bigger radiators then the whole areo of the car would be thrown off.
Exactly. The entire car's aero needs to work together, from the front to the rear, everything helps dictates how the air flows. If you change the sidepod, you need to change other parts as well as the sidepod plays a major role in how the air flows.
Another important thing is as Ferrari and other teams begin to do aero testing, Red Bull has yet to do anything, so this will be another disadvantage to them, even if they can solve their reliability issue eventually.
Can't feel sorry for them though. They are our competitors.:-D

AUTOSPORT's F1 technical expert Gary Anderson looks at the problems the world champion squad is having.
The reason for the stoppage hasn't yet emerged, but this is worrying for Red Bull given that the new RB10 has managed a grand total of 11 complete laps in two-and-a-half days.
The technical rumour mill in the paddock suggests that Renault is less than pleased with Red Bull's installation of the control electronics in its 2014 car.
