Those are paints used to show how the air is flowing over the car.

What happens is as the car move, air flows over it and this air will then push the paint along it's path as the paint dries up. So once the paint is dry, it has taken the shape of the airflow path. This means it is showing how the air is flowing over the car parts, which direction it is going, and the engineers can tell if the air is going where they want it to go.

He's doing long runs on the ss. Amus saying he might be starting a race sim with the ss.

No, but on right way to the place near the top teams.
But that placement could be behind Mercedes but in front of Ferrari...?

Totally agree. They are a team who are rediscovering themselves. The question remains as to whether they will be successful at developing their car over the course of the season but they seem to have started off on the right foot.

Massa must be loving this! Maldonado must be hating this!

Raikkonen did a number of laps yesterday on ss tyres fastest lap on the last?

They can in short term for sure. In long term it is very unlikely.

Agree and disagree at the same time. Remember last year? Ferrari was introducing almost every race new parts, but newer to race them... And race after race, after race valuable points are gone with less races to catch up...

One thing that i wasn't really sure yesterday. I've seen many saying that he pitted at the end and went out quickly again to get the lap in. Others saying that he did a rather slowish 8 lap run and done the fastest one on the 8th.

A bit odd isn't it? I mean, 8 laps of fuel ain't THAT much, so it should have been the first lap clearly fastest.

Bottas did a high 1:34 on softs, now on SS he hasn't improved. Kimi yesterday did a mid 1:35 on SS and it was all drama..

This might be his year to win at least a race or two. We know how incredibly fast he is if you give him a car that is easy to drive. And when he's confident he just gets better and better.

We're not talking about Sauber, FI or Caterham here. Williams has the people, the tools and money to keep it going through the season. Dear say they were one of the most out of place on the grid teams in the past few years.

Fairly busy on-track at the moment. Hulkenberg, Vergne, Hamilton, Gutierrez, Kobayashi, Chilton and... wait! Vettel! The Red Bull has been fixed and the world champion has just completed a couple of flying laps in the 1m44s.

Just seen Vettels spin from earlier today. Wow. Whatever the problem was, that must have been scary. I don't like seeing them like this.

Any news on what Ferrari is up to?

Surely we need to be doing as many laps in this last few hours before the season starts

My answer was in response to trepidation dat we keep reverting back to old parts, which isn't the case Wen did we last see the team so dedicated to der own programme, we haven't. JA made them aero map da whole car, put weird sensors everywhere , infra-reds on FW, ride hide mapping, making sure no stone is left unturned. This is positive enough for me.

    F1 show biz 2016 :
Toto - "Ferrari are a real threat" .... Nico - "Awesome, everything is just awesome" .....Lulu - "Mental strength man, lifestyle man, I'll drive at 400% as ever man".... and then suddenly a wild Bull out of nowhere slams into a Ferrari.

14:29 Response to Thanos Mpekas: Hello, Thanos. Alonso has recently ventured back out after a lengthy spell in the Ferrari garage. The team is giving little away, but it has suffered a range of setbacks this week

I'd say they only mention ferrari if it is in bad shape.

    this is my favorite

*Williams leads the way for the second consecutive day
*Vettel suffers long delay after Red Bull breaks again
*Hamilton starts late with gearbox woes but goes second fastest
    *The Lotus catches fire again
*Button's McLaren breaks down just after lunch
    Hell would have broken loose
