Ferrari has been working hard to hide their engines fro prying eyes and yet the only photos i have seen of the engine has been from their number 1 engine partner Sauber.

    That really s me.

Hamilton goes fastest of all in the first sector but loses three tenths in the middle of the lap. Backs off into the 1m41s across the line.

Yeah, Sauber has been really sloppy this year. This is the second time they let something as big out (but I can't remember what was the first thing).

Could be good, or expected life span depending on how long they have been running. The teams are calling them "high mileage"

Edit: by good I mean for us

In expectations of Hamilton doing a run 5 seconds faster than anyone else, autosport server is too busy to handle the request....

Is it me or are the SS tyres only good for one lap?

Love to hear Alonso did that (1:34s) with more fuel on board and less usage of ERS compared to Mercedes-powered cars.

14:33 Hamilton manages a 1m33.8s lap last time around, but hasn't been able to get close to his previous best.

Surely that best lap had to be set on SS as he is unable to beat it now easilly.

Mercedes engine in the top 3.
That's why they call it a monster engine.

Don't get too happy because Mercedes engine passed more miles than required and they pushed it to limit to burn it and see where is the engine limit! Other teams are doing it too!

That was his fourth lap with this set of supersoft tyres.

I was thinking the same thing. Only one good lap and it needs to be low fuel. And it looks like the soft tires don't want to work well or long on a heavy car. At least not on this track.

Not sure anybody mentioned this already, here are the references from last year's race, whatever they're worth:

    Pole lap: 1'32.330
    Fastest lap during race: 1'36.961

Dear say the Top 3 for now is Mercedes, Ferrari and Williams. Not gonna guess the order, since it's really uncertain at the moment. McLaren and Force India admited that they are slower than the Williams so they are a bit further back.

I wouldn't argue against that. So long as Ferrari is in the mix at the top, I think we'll be fine.

I don't believe Williams times. They did this last 2 years. I suspect they are making their car lighter to get chart-topping times.

I can't see how is the number of engines per season enough. Just 5 engines, with those problems?

i'm cautiously thinking that the Mercs have a bit more speed then US, whereas the williams did their fast laps on FUMES basically to attract more sponsors as well
as get Martini to sign teh deal a lot quicker....

but i'm sure Ferrari will do their homework well and overcome Mercedes and take the top spot...there is a lot more speed in that Ferrari that we have not seen, or the TEAM want to let us see, JUST YET!!!
So the SF-24 has been a decent car. Lets hope that the totally redesigned from the ground up SF-25 contender will be a beast that will give us tifosi something to smile about.
