All been all if we are exactly where our times are surely Alonso would venting his anger but instead he seems quit pleased. possibly (here hoping) they are sandbagging to an extent. maybe there is speed hidden from the opposition. . if we have the highest top speed then that must show our engine is performing well.. it's gonna be a long two weeks of waiting..

    yup, you got that right...

but i think we're in better shape then WE (fans) think we are...
So the SF-24 has been a decent car. Lets hope that the totally redesigned from the ground up SF-25 contender will be a beast that will give us tifosi something to smile about.

I suspected that we were sandbagging, so in the first test I've asked your thoughts but no one thought we were so now maybe you believe me.

I've got this feeling and Alonso doesn't seem to negative, maybe he's spreading false rumors like we need to find some speed etc.. standard reply's if you ask me.

If you all add thing up then this doesn't makes much sense at all, Alonso goes purple S1, then backs down in the last corner before the finish line and records a 'slower' lap. He has done that a few times + a nice topspeed has been recorded while we've been told our ERS package wasn't fully upped.

I dont think we are sandbagging, that top speed was just gears test for monza.

It s more of hoping we are sandbagging. but as you say it don't make sense to have average lap times with high top speed and obvious backing off on laps. it surely points to playing our cards close to our chest

This can be done quite easily. In fact i used to do it regularly and know it works well.
Imagine Ferrari mechanics fit a transponder at a point just after the second sector. From then on Alonso's start/finish is that reference point. The Ferrari Team will get their times for a flying lap while NO ONE ELSE will have a clue as Alonso will ease off after he crosses that imaginary line.Believe me it works.

nah, it ain't just that, because if you set your gears for top speed for tracks like monza or spa, you'd have to run them JUST LIKE THAT at every track, as this year the way you set your gears for the first race, you have to have the same setting for the WHOLE season, as it's not permitted anymore to modify them at every race

i think that we are just bloody quick, or as quick as Mercedes (here i'm hoping that we are a TAD quicker then them) and we're just NOT showing our cards and leave the competitors along with Ted K. guessing....LOLOLOL

you've got a good point there, but would Ferrari go to that extreme to HIDE their true performance and speed on purpose??? i personally would if i were FERRARI...

    here's a FORZA!!!

I have seen the interview with Alonso and I have never seen him so contented, not one ounce of frustration, which tells me we could be in for an exciting season, in my limited knowledge I think Ferrari have been concentrating not on qualifying but what will happen on a Sunday, as we all know this season is going to be different to anything we have ever witnessed before with all the new technology, and probably the hardest and most difficult challenge facing all teams is fuel consumption and I believe this is going to be where Ferrari could triumph over the rest. With that said I do believe we will be stronger than in previous years on a Saturday in Qualification, and the strongest team on a Sunday, with that combination we will come out top. Forza Ferrari.

Ferrari could be playing this game to hide their true speed. They will know everybody's times while hiding their true performance. It will eventually show up if someone makes an easy sum of the best three sectors on different laps though!!!!!

    I know that...
But it is quite logical that you test high speed for Monza, you trying to say that we did not test anything for such unique circuit?

I don't believe that we're so bad that times are showing.
But not becuse Alonsos lack of venting. I believe he will pick his words much more carefully after what happened last year when he "vented".

From the little footage we have seen Ferrari seems to be the highest geared while Williams is one of the lowest geared. This is confusing some people here but remember that both could fit a 370/380kmh 8th.gear.Turbo engines like long gearing and the torque on these engines will tolerate larger gaps then in the old n/a v8's.Let's hope our Team gets that compromise right.!

I mean if Ferrari can do it so can they..

My dear fellow friends, don't get disheartened by hearing all bad rumors about our team's performance. I still somehow have feelings that we are sandbagging and i really don't read too much into Stefano's words either. Remember how we were bloody fast in 2011 practices and we ended up being worst in actual races(or how mclaren went from being worst to being good after Redbull) . And i am optimistic about this year car as wind tunnel is in harmony with actual track data unlike last few years. Plus this year we have the strongest driving pair and good technical team,so i am sure that even if we are not the fastest team out of the box, we will still be there on top for championship battle. So brace yourself to behold an exciting session

If Mercedes and Williams are indeed ahead of us the only way I can see us doing better than them during the season is if we outdevelop them and that they have multiple DNF's.

Think Williams showed their hand. Mercedes could have posted a faster time and if you read Hamilton's remarks there was plenty more in the pocket.

During the season teams chop and change who is in front with the exception of Red Bull, that of course could change this year, so we could be behind say Williams at this point but in 2 weeks time we could be in front, so at this point I am not worried with the pecking order.

As long as Fernando stays relaxed, we can stay relaxed too. He may choose his words carefully, but he has never been able to hide his true mood.
