    F14 T

Where is Rory Byrne design on this car? He was not to be seen during the launch. I had high hopes on his involvement for this year car. Anyone one has seen any links to prove he was involved on this year car design????

I remember during the launch of F138, he gave an interview to AMuS, where he said that he is 'working full stream on 2014 project'

Yeah i read that too. But we are not hearing anything this year and nothing visible on the car. Most reviews say it is same as F138 except for the nose and side pot.

This question should have been asked to Domenicali, the best person to answer and confirm.

There where so many rumours about his input in this project ...

EDIT says: seems others have the same open question ...
"If I was driving for Red Bull [from 2008] probably I would have more championships, but because they were dominating between 2010 and 2014 probably I would never have driven for Ferrari. I am very happy and very proud to drive for Ferrari, all my time there.

Well, there is no comment from Nikolas Tombazis as well (Everybody spoke except him, Allison, Fry, Marmorini etc.). Every year he has some comments at the time of launch of a new car. My guess would be that NT is still the chief designer of Ferrari but F14 T is a RB product.

Yes I remember that too. But since than nothing official. We never saw him wearing Ferrari uniform... Not that it counts much, but still...

My guess is that if he is the designer for F14 T then he should be seen during the tests. If not then someone call him and ask? lol

Interesting to note that SD stated that the engine is working well at 13k RPM and easily will push to 14.5k RPM but didn't talk about what they were testing in running the car to the 15k RPM max...

Not sure if the car simply doesn't generate more torque above 14.5k or whether it is a reliability or fuel consumption issue that has seen them not push to the 15k limit.

My guess is that the "working range" RPM has been dictated by the fuel efficiency of the engine. May not be possible to go a full race distance revving to 15k rpm in each gear so they instead work on the torque at a level which wont see them limping to the finish line due to fuel constraints.

My guest is that if he was chief designer of F14 T, he should have been on presentation. Not seeing him, or hearing a word from him I guest he was just a consultant or even that to the design team of F14 T.

Provided that it is able to win, I don't really care about who designed it and how it looks.

Yep, most likely Bryne is just a consultant if he's involved. I doubt he wants to come out of his retirement (from F1 side of things) and have to travel with the team again.

Every year I think it's claimed Byrne has been involved, I doubt he is at all just like the other years.

What Byrne influence would be visible? If it looked like an f2004? Rules changed since he last was involved so cannot say. Looks like f138 apart from nose of course but sidepods are different engine cover rear wing front wing.... their both red though and have 4 wheels.

No. What you remember was AMuS claiming they got an interview with Rory, which every F1 journalist in the world then quoted as gospel. There's no proof it ever happened. Rory was not seen or photographed by anyone else at the launch of the F138. Ferrari have never mentioned him in the involvement of either the F138 or F14-T, and they would have if his contribution was substantial enough.

I got ripped apart by that Massimo guy (forum member) for questioning those articles last year. What a bumface he was - http://www.thescuderia.net/forums/sh...014-car!/page2

I feel the same here, but Rory involvement on this year car was published on almost all F1 websites. How is that possible?

what leads me to 2 questions
    1) what happened to Massimo (haven't seen him posting here for long time)?
    2) bumface doesn't violate the rules of the board?

That is possible since Ferrari never linked his name to project 665. Wonder why Wiki is claiming him to be the designer of F14 T?

as i can remember in 2013 presentation
they said that the mclarens and the lotus cars looked better than the F138
too bulky sidepods, too conservative design, not much of an innovation. things like that.
but the F138 out performs them
    Hell would have broken loose

Rory Byrne was at the launch at the F138 and said he's working hard on the 2014 car. A couple of months ago some dude went to Maranello and said he saw Rory there and he looked like a man on a mission. He even snapped a picture of RB next to his brother (the dude's, that is).

This car is Rory's design. He did the LaFerrari first to get in the rhythm, but the intention for Maranello was to find a replacement for the ever-incompetent Nicholas Tombazis. There was an interview last year with NT in which he said he respects RB a lot, he was his boss, but the age of one-man-show in F1 design is over.

    I guess it isn't.

Bottom line, Rory is back with the F14-T and if it proves successful, he may take over as chief designer. I hope he does.

    Friends,

All i wanted to know was if he was involved in the design or not. If he is not then I our only hope is that we better engine and good reliability compared to others.

Nicholas Tombazis is one of the best designers in F1,period!
To be good at it does not guarantee you success in any way.Adrian Newey designed cars from 2000 until 2009(the 2007 and 2008 Mclarens were not his own,he was already since 2006 at RBR) didnt win a thing,so was he suddenly incopetent and then became competent again???!!Dude i respect your thinking but we shall see things a little bit more rationally
We should be more thankful that he is still with us!
